Shit.. Replika cannot do shimmer.

But Replika XT can. It has the basic recipe delay, reverb ,1 octave pitch-shifter..and feedback.

Love the Adaptiverb, over all very different from Shimmer.
Much newer technology and hungry CPU but fantastic.

By the way, how old is the concept of the shimmer reverb? I think I noticed one in this tune from as early as 1978, on the synth from 39 seconds on, sounds very nice :)

Maybe '74 with Eventide's H910 ? Sean has a good post about the technique in his blog: https://valhalladsp.com/2010/05/11/enol ... t-is-made/

Here is an example of the "Shimmer" effect using Breeze 2:

To my ears, this sounds like an arpeggio through tape echo. I don't hear the pitch changing as it decays away.

Feedback pitch shifters were around in the mid-70s (H910), but the feedback on these sounded very metallic. Definitely not the smooth pitch shifting you hear in the early 80s Eno/Lanois tracks. For a good shimmer sound, you need some sort of de-glitching in the pitch shifting, as found in the Eventide H949 or AMS DMX 15-80s. Straight ahead overlap/add pitch shifters will sound metallic in this application.

I picked up Luminance by Sinevibes earlier today. Sweet plug that does shimmer pretty well. It's only $29 too. I'm happy with it. https://www.sinevibes.com/luminance/

I recently found a tutorial video on y..tube how to set this up inside
Live. Works flawlessly.

One of SteveW using Adaptiverb (shimmer style):

Lots of people just insert a pitchshifter ahead of the reverb so that it doesn’t continue to produce higher and higher pitches. That’s a simple way to get a slightly different effect with stuff you probably already have.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

With the Strymon pedals they call it "Regen"(eration), so for example instead of getting just a single octave up, it feeds it back through adding an octave on an octave and so on.

Indeed, probably the most direct and menacing contender to Valhalla Shimmer. I own both and I like them both too but I have preference for Luminance, for some reasons (on my sounds at least) it sounds richer and smoother. Outstanding (shimmering) reverb plugin for a very cheap price, extremely underrated. It turns pretty much anything into a warm blanket of butter !
