Good evening,
I am a new user of Superchord, which I like very much! Endless possibilities, precise control of tone color and many other unique features that I didn't find in any other resonator software so far. Anyway, I would like to start this thread where the users can put their suggestions for the future versions of Superchord (I hope that the developers will appreciate).
I start with my two first ideas about some features I would like to see added to a future version, after a few minutes of use:
- The possibility to enter not only notes, but also frequencies, with an automatic conversion of frequencies to note + octave + detune values (I know of one similar software that does this).
This would be very useful in order to apply resonances taken from the frequency values of a sound spectrum, for example (I need to do so quite often when I am composing, it's one of the possible ways to apply the "sound fingerprint" of a second sound to the original sound).
- The possibility to make easier for the user to obtain different decay times for different resonators, for example if one wants the higher notes to last longer than the lower notes. I think that this is already possible by setting the levels and other values carefully (Tracking and so on), but I would like the possibility to do it easily and very quickly, with very few clicks and a more evident result.
- Regarding the Filter Mode, the manual says: "BP (band pass): removes content around the cutoff frequency". The world "around" is not clear to me, it would probably be clearer by saying "below and above the filter frequency", but perhaps this is because English is not my native language.

Thanks, your kind words are much appreciated!XComposer wrote:Good evening,

This is technically entirely possible, it's just I need to find a way to avoid cluttering the already quite busy UI even more ...I start with my two first ideas about some features I would like to see added to a future version, after a few minutes of use:

The next update, which should be out shortly already features presets for various alternative temperaments, and scala microtuning file import.
Ok, I think I see what you mean, although I had never thought of it myselfThis would be very useful in order to apply resonances taken from the frequency values of a sound spectrum, for example (I need to do so quite often when I am composing, it's one of the possible ways to apply the "sound fingerprint" of a second sound to the original sound).

So as I understand it, you want to do some form of modal analysis / cross-synthesis, by finding the peaks in the source spectrum and using the resonators to emulate the source modes ?
Absolutely, this is already on the todo list (a.k.a. frequency2damping, one knob | range +[-100%, 100%]).- The possibility to make easier for the user to obtain different decay times for different resonators, for example if one wants the higher notes to last longer than the lower notes. I think that this is already possible by setting the levels and other values carefully (Tracking and so on), but I would like the possibility to do it easily and very quickly, with very few clicks and a more evident result.
Will attempt to put it in the next update, or the one after that if not.
Tracking is different, it's for cutting out some of the bass from the input, with respect to the resonator frequency.
Yes, using 'below and above' is probably clearer, I'll amend the manual for the next revision.- Regarding the Filter Mode, the manual says: "BP (band pass): removes content around the cutoff frequency". The world "around" is not clear to me, it would probably be clearer by saying "below and above the filter frequency", but perhaps this is because English is not my native language.
Thanks for all this detailed feedback.
Cheers,
Lorcan

That's very interesting, though I wasn't thinking to that, but, yes, this would be interesting for sure.lorcan wrote: This is technically entirely possible, it's just I need to find a way to avoid cluttering the already quite busy UI even more ...

Yes, exactly!Ok, I think I see what you mean, although I had never thought of it myself.

Wonderful… or could it be done graphically (a sort of editable horizontal curve, like that of an EQ, but controlling the decay time for each frequency)? Perhaps, sometimes one (me…Absolutely, this is already on the todo list (a.k.a. frequency2damping, one knob | range +[-100%, 100%]).
