While everyone likes having an opinion resonate with others, it is incredibly important to hear any dissenting opinion so that you can temper your point of view.
This is ALWAYS a problem on forums, social media...
dissenting opinion = "trolling"
I speak some Truths, using reality+logic
I get called a troll
butthurt guy starts to (sigh) 24/7, you need some salve for it
other guy needs a safe space
panties of the collective hive are ruffled
multiple people on here don't understand reaktor, max, pd, mux, ...or modular stuff
yet you're acting like experts on the subject.
Melda would be better off making more effects
left field thinking effects and whatnot then a "synth" "soundfactory"

djmani,
For the moment, you seem to be the instigator here. Let's do a recap of what Steve said, and what your response was:
Maybe there's a history of bad blood between you two? Do you think that Steve was referring to you when he made his comment?
In all seriousness, maybe you two PM each other, and either bury the hatchet, or have an insult-fest privately.
In any event, let's just talk about MSoundfactory. Let's try to keep disagreements...even strong ones, friendly disagreements.

Nobody about a global voices/unison modulator?Whywhy wrote:I would like to add a wish:
Global Unison/voices modulator for all parameters. :
Offset some value per voices.
Simple example : 1 osc with 2 voices unison :
1 voice pitch at 0 .
2nd unison voice pitch at +12 st .
More Complex ex:
2 unison voices:
Osc1 mod osc2 by fm.
Osc 2 : different ratio by voices, different waves form per voices, offset some filter values....it could save a lot of lanes and make some nice kind of analog and digital tricks.
What do you think?

I don't really understand what you mean by Global unison. You can already add multiple OSC, so if you wanted to have 1 osc at 0 and another at +12, you can easily do that. You could have OSC each with a different pitch if you like and each could have their own unison setting. Combining OSC using FM is already possible, so you don't have to worry about that. Maybe you're talking about something else though. So far its already very capable and powerful, but in the future I'm sure there will be all sort of new possibilities. If I got your idea wrong let me know.Whywhy wrote:Nobody about a global voices/unison modulator?Whywhy wrote:I would like to add a wish:

Ok, take for example an analog poly synth, each voice have her own osc, envelope, filter, amp, pan...you're able to tune each voices independently.
Now, let's take this concept with a global voices/ unison modulator, with 16 global voices and one osc, you could have 16 osc, filters... with one modulator, bipolar or unipolar or Melda polar-:), you could offset quickly the destination value of your 16 osc voices.
It' not a new feature, Falcon, Cypher, repro...have that and it's a powerful, underrated feature . In a Melda modular environment, it could be a great addition.
We could perhaps already do it with a MFactory modular inside a Mfactory but with one global voices modulator, I think, It could be more easy. I hope my explanations are clear, if not , I could reformulate it -)

@Whywhy.
On a very basic level, I can follow what you are saying and agree.
I for a long time have wished that there would be a unison feature that could offset the voices by more than just pan and pitch.
But I am struggling with how you suggest it should be implemented?
You mention that it should be a modulator right?
Where is this feature in Falcon? I own it and just had a look for a modulator or something else, but could find it.

Here:

Don't forget to set the layer with x unison voices.

About implementation:
Global: numbers of voices unison.
Modulator: global voices spread .
For apply an offset to any voices parameters.
The ideal could be to choose in a graph the voice number.
With some curves will could be able to do some interesting stuff ....ultra flexible user unison system, additive synthesis on steroid, fm, pm, by numbers of voices, crazy comb filtering, metallic timbre controlled...

I think you could mean the drifting of voice while playing polyphonic. Older analog gear as my Polysix do it.Whywhy wrote:About implementation:

Here is something that might interest you:
You got a (global) advanced setting. There you get 3 sections.
VOICING
define voice restart modes/ kill voices options/ filter mono follow + random phase option/ Mono-toggle/glide-curve modificator
VELOCITY SHAPE
complete editable curve + velocity interpolation + follow velocity + follow aftertouch
HARMONY
this may be the most interesting point for you.
This is a 6 note freely assignable editor. Each Note-operator has
- Offset
- Detune
- Velocity and delay for the first two parameters
So and now please always have in mind, that every knob and slider in Meldaproduction stuff is completely free modulateable. This Harmony-Engine sounds amazing analogish drifty and analogish "unstable" if you like it too...but it is a big plus for sound-design too. Even with only one single operator active and only one single key played its a great addition. I hope this nails it for you?
--> played more around with this engine and it´s astonishing analog sounding. Extremely powerful. I will make a demo recording to show.
Cheers
This is the official description for the Harmony Engine:
Note panel contains parameters of a virtual note. If you enable the note and press a key, the instrument will behave as if you had pressed another key at the same time, with different velocity, tuning, delay etc. Note that the keys cannot be duplicates, so if you for example hold C1 and there is a virtual note 12 semitones up (C2) both are played, but when you then press C2 as well, this one won't generate a new sound and will be ignored as it is already playing, but C3 will be added as well. You're right, it works for pitch setting, but not for all parameters like fm amount , env, etc.nichttuntun wrote:I think you could mean the drifting of voice while playing polyphonic. Older analog gear as my Polysix do it.Whywhy wrote:About implementation:

If we can control with harmony tabs all parameters, it can do the trick. But for me the harmony tab duplicate the voices output with a pitch offset, but I can be wrong, Mps and Mfactory are so deep and flexible.
What I try to describe is a user offset value for each parameters and for each global unison voices.
Perhaps, Jmg8 could describe it better than me, English is not my native language.

You can emulate the very subtle drift of analog synths gear with it. Maybe you can put a link to a YT video or something like this that we can understand exactly what you mean

Isn´t detuned Unison nothing else than that what the harmony engine does? But in the Harmony engine you have complete control

Perhaps the word "unison " distract people or focus the attention on pitch detune.
Ok, I wish, in the new MFactory, we could have some voices stacks and every parameters of each voices stack could be offset and modulated by a user value. I will post a video when I come back from my holidays, my phone didn't load any synths.

As I understand you can exactly do this with the 6 operator harmony engine if I am not totally misunderstanding.Whywhy wrote:Perhaps the word "unison " distract people or focus the attention on pitch detune.
