A OPL2 kit for Arduino / Raspberry Pi? Interesting for the DIY forum!

NB there are several of these kits. Which one did you get?

Yeah. I'm not much of a DIYer though.
From what I understand you get the device and plug it in to the Arduino to use it.
Which Arduino would I need though? It looks like there's several different models
Thanks

I contacted the developer and he mentioned I would need a Teensy2.0++ to be able to play with a midi controller.
There's a few midiplus devices online for sale with general midi sounds and emu sounds.
I'd like to have the Roland sound canvas GM sounds and the MT sounds too.

Ah, you own nothing yet...
The Sound Canvas is available as a VST plugin:
https://www.roland.com/global/products/sound_canvas_va/
SoundCanvas & MT32 evolved into JP-8080 and all spin-offs. You can buy these second-hand.
Btw it eludes me why you'd want SB AdLib sounds in a hardware box. Or is it like driving a Citroen 2CV on a F1 circuit?

Oh cool.
I just like the chip sound. I heard it's an fm synth.

cool! thanks for shaing!
apparently all i'd need to use the opl2 board is a teensy 2.0++ for the midi controller.
The only thing is that there's not a whole lot of presets. The developer said that you can create your own if you know how to program the chips I guess.

What's a good hardware FM synth module? I had the Yamaha FB01 for a while and I liked it but didn't know how to program it.
I think there's one where you can chain together multiple units that look like euroracks.

I've skimmed through the documentation on that, and if you're not DIY inclined and like messing with hardware & loading its software and figuring out how to do it and why it doesn't work, then I'd forget that idea.djmino02 wrote:apparently all i'd need to use the opl2 board is a teensy 2.0++ for the midi controller.
There's a whole thread created on that subject this week: viewtopic.php?f=74&t=511475djmino02 wrote:What's a good hardware FM synth module?
That won't ever change. Programming FM synths is a kind of black magic...djmino02 wrote:I had the Yamaha FB01 for a while and I liked it but didn't know how to program it.

Not all clear if you want a synth to program or just GM sounds.
If you just want GM sound module - there are various sample libraries as well.
I had one in GIG format I loaded into a standalone sampler in computer at the time, and a virtual midi cable from daw.
It worked better than what was in soundblaster, not having the latency involved in those built into onboard soundcards.
