SAMPLE FUEL announced REVOLUTION-CRE8 a Virtual Instrument with its focus on playable reversing sounds. Revolution will be released on October 16, 2018.

The approach when creating this instrument was not to be just a one-shot reverse library but to deliver a product that would be the most usable and unique reverse library on the market for the modern-day media composer. Our goal was not just to reverse the sample content and call it done, but to create an engine capable of creating reversing textures that you can loop, mangle, layer on top of one another or add to a granular texture. KEY FEATURES

DUAL LAYER REVERSING SAMPLE ENGINE.

PHRASE LOOPING - Play any phrase with a length as short as a 8th note or as long as 8 Beats and it will loop in reverse automatically.

NOTE VALUE KEY SWITCHING - Reversing Layers 1 and 2 can have their note values key switched independently in real-time. For example Layer 1 can be set to a Whole note while Layer 2 can be set to Half or Quarter notes creating complex and interesting reverse poly rhythms.

GRANULAR ENGINE - Layer 3 provides a modern granular engine with up to 8 grain streams per oscillator to create complex rich and spacious structures. We utilize this layer to create beautiful pads that layer with the REVERSING Engine to create hybrid pads with reversing elements.

26 DIFFERENT INSTRUMENT SOURCES - We have sampled 26 different instruments with repeated note values of various lengths. This allows you to have chords or phrases repeating in note values of 16th, 8th, Quarter, Half, Whole, or 8 Beats (2 Whole Notes).

MIRROR-SLING SHOT PATCHES - All 26 instruments have patches that allow you to play them in a normal forward sound that then reverses back in a mirrored fashion.

Presets have up to 3 Layers and you can load patches in up to 16 slots that can be used multi-timbral or layered by assigning patches to the same MIDI channel.

sounds good (altho perhaps the whole video should have played in reverse... or would that make all the sounds play forward)? am confused now...

I suppose the sounds would play forward and sound more like straight pulses.....

There will be a video out soon showing how easy it is to play patterns in real time and they reverse and sound the same as it does when you go through the painful normal process of thinking of the pattern, then play it in reverse so it sounds right when you reverse it, record it, render it, reverse it, and then loop it.

No more of that non-sense.....just think of the pattern and play it and it saves all of those steps. The instrument can do much more but that is one of the highlights.

Indeed this competes with REV but goes waaaaaay beyond its capabilities. We do just about everything REV can do but go far beyond its capabilities. Our focus was to be able to play phrases and have them loop in manner that almost sounds like a "looper" pedal. But than we have 2 layers that can be different instruments looping in different beat divisions (which you can change on the fly via key switches), etc.... really interesting results.

REV also some pre-recorded loops that it you can trigger but not alter. We did not do that approach has it can sound cool but it does not allow you to change them in any way.

Our instrument truly gives you a tremendous amount of creative freedom and options.

Some Devs go out of their way to come up with a unique name for their product so as not to cause confusion or disrespect other Devs
