Synths are basically just tech, one can determine specific parameters and measure/rate whether a given synth is good or not.

With food one can only determine the nutrients, but that doesn't say anything about whether or not people will like the food. Why else would so many people eat fast food?!

The sound of a synth is measurable, though. If it has aliasing or poor filters, it shows on the analyzer and most people won't like what they hear.
if youf choose like what is the healthiest food that would be a fair pole.
Neither nutrition nor healthiness are important for that analogy. You would only get it if you imagine geeky cooks in their geeky forum...
Food is about taste, nothing else. Your body manipulates your taste according to the nutrition and healthy needs... Unless you let manipulate your taste by commercials. That is why any advancement in food technology leads to tasteless products for supermarkets.
The analogy fits perfectly if you listen to the tasteless music in the radio...
A cello is still a top instrument even after hundreds of years...; - )

I am not actually looking for another powerful synth (I have SynthMaster and a lot of others). Instead, what I was asking for was what is considered a top synth today. ....

But you didn't ask top synth for what? Quality of sound, most modulation options, most logical gui,
largest number of useable parameters, and so on.

The answers you get will depend on what the person considers important.

Don't read too much into threads like these... it's rather like those articles you get recommended on random news sites. "Top 5 pets these days" "Top 5 artists who went banrupt" "Top 5 sexiest women in the world" ;)

Your analogy refers to music vs food, not synths vs food 8) It's not the same, just think of all the trash music made with excellent synths :hihi:
