soooo....the apprehension engine looks pretty sweet right? but its not really a production instrument you can buy.

but now leafaudio is about to release the microphonic soundbox, which is essentially a smaller apprehension engine. check it out:

not bad. and not crazy expensive either. 149 euros for the diy kit...199 ready built.

Kinda tempting, but I don't use my Perpetual Spring Device nearly enough already. This reminds me I was going to try a bow with it though.

If you want to build one of these Apprehension Engines. Film Masters on YouTube is doing a DIY on making one!

Code: Select all

it's cool, but you realize you can pretty much mic anything around the house tap it with stuff or run a bow on it and do the same thing. Just drench the shit out of it in verb. You'll be amazed. You can make taking a dump sound like planetary war ... wait, I don't reverb for that.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

steel ruler screwed to a table, violin bow...

It's not as cool as the name suggests. https://www.perfectcircuit.com/crank-st ... evice.html

But it can be good with Rings, Byome, feedback loops etc. 8)

not that its not cool, just think i could probably make one easily enough :hihi:

from the name i was expecting something a little more, i dunno, grand!
but i guess you cant really argue with the name (although perpetual is maybe a little exaggeration :hihi:

i do like springs though, they can be fun :D

Post

Stick it right on top of / in front of your monitors and it can be perpetual :D

It really is just a passive piezo epoxied to the inside of an Altoids tin with random springs welded to the top. Though my tin is unpainted so it kind of looks a little less ghetto than the one pictured.
