commodore wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 3:05 am Nice, I've been wanting to check out the roland cloud synths, but was turned off by the subscription. Might be worth it if any of these sound decent. Hoping the JV1080 sounds good. And when's the JP8080 coming??? lol. I'll sign up for the free 30 days and demo these guys out.

Anyone have any favorites of their cloud synths? Wondering what I should spend the most time looking at. Thanks!

edit - just downloaded a few of them. First impressions - the D-50 sounds great. The jupiter sounds meh. The 1080 is my dream come true. Put a bunch of blackhole reverb on the pad patches and it's about the best thing ever. Hope they do a JD990 haha.
The System-8 is fantastic. Total favorite here.

roland cloud subscription, like signing up for
a jellybean of the month club when you
already have access to all the candy you
want at walmart. :hihi:

seriously, who pays a monthly fee
for the tools to make a song? fk that.
and if you think the support makes
it worth it, you are incompetent to
make music with computers,

A lot op people on splice....you pay a monthly fee for 12 months and end up owning 2 world class VSTs....

I guess by your logic people who subscribe to office 365 or adobe cloud are also incompetent to use a computer?

I got more than 12 months of montly subscription and in my account was able to select 2 plugins for the loyalty program. Also as recently they were my most used ones i decided to select Jupiter-8 and System-8.
As a big Jupiter-8 fan and someone who owned the real thing more than 10 years ago that plugin was a "must have" for me while i also got the Arturia plugin and U-He Diva with the Jupiter modules.

Due to having to save some money in the near future i also cancelled my subscription now which will tiem out in around 2 weeks.

With Splice, when your "lease" expires, the license gets transferred to you, same as if you had bought the product directly. That's not the same kind of strings attached, "continuous play access", "but not necessarily in perpetuity", that Roland are pushing. They say right in the fine print that it's not a permanent license. You'd never see that kind of wording for a normal, perpetual license.

Services like Office 365 can actually save corporations money. They have the flexibility to add/remove licenses in response to changing needs, instead of having unused licenses or expensive volume licenses, and they don't have to spend as much time and resources on license compliance (or maintaining an on-premise Exchange server...). So if you're a huge studio with lots of employees who come and go, a bunch of Roland Cloud monthly subscriptions might make more sense, but for home studio owners, bedroom producers etc. it really makes no sense.

This is a limited time offer (ends December 31st, 2018) for an annual subscription. It requires twelve months of paid continuous use or an annual paid subscription.

This is NOT a permanent license to a title currently available in Roland Cloud’s catalog. This is continuous play access to selected instruments. All policies, mechanisms, updates, login, and maintenance requirements stay in effect. Roland Cloud reserves the right to review its catalog selections at any time and does not guarantee your selected titles will remain active in perpetuity."

Pass........
So you basically don't get anything. Especially if you keep paying the subscription.
No signature here!

You "get" what your'e paying for - access to the instruments. If you've been paying for a whie, then you can stop paying, and still get access to *some* of the instruments.

I think everyone gets how subscription services work now...

They are good emulations so at 100 dollar a synth, this is a correct price.
Once the synths are mine, I would immediately terminate the subscription though.

I'm one month away from first reward and a bit confused what this means in the email:

"Are you currently enrolled in a monthly program? You’ll also get TWO instruments when you complete your 12 months, even if you choose not to renew your monthly subscription at that time."

Does this mean I get to choose 2 instruments if I just continue monthly subscription? Anyone figure it out?

That's exactly what it means.

Yes, I believe that means you will get 2. As some have stated, they've been enrolled for over a year and received 2. :tu:
