It has, to be fair, but they are extras, and pricey. SM is a milking cow. Even the Mutable Instruments modules, which are free in VCV, are priced at $39 EACH (regular price). So, in the end, the advertised price for SM is a lie, because for that price you get just a bunch of plain vanilla modules.DavidCarlyon wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 12:29 pm Softube has nothing like the super envelope or super modules in general. I just wish it wasnt such a pain to set up.

With the sale that's going on through the end of the year, is there is list somewhere that details what the 85 modules are that comes in Core?

The addition of the "Super Modules" to the Core was a big step in the right direction, that I agree. It still lacks a "Super Filter" though (something in the vein of the Matrix-12 filter, with all its 15 modes, would be a good "Super Filter"). But had I know those would be included, I would have bought Core System at the special launching price.

Hi friends,
More Cherry Audio news today. We've got a new update to Voltage Modular released, and two exciting new modules. The update to VM (1.1.4) gives module developers some new abilities, and is necessary to use these new modules. You can visit your library page (https://store.cherryaudio.com/my/library) to download the update immediately.
First up is the Ladder Filter, which is FREE for all Voltage Core users! Based, of course, off the famous transistor ladder filter patented by Bob Moog in 1966, this filter is raw, raunchy, and powerful. Turn up the Saturation knob for even more overdriven tone. Cutoff, Resonance (or "Emphasis"), and Saturation are all CV-controllable, too.

In addition, we've released the Euclidean Duel module. This beast of a trigger-sequencing module can generate complex polyrhythms with ease. Our Euclidean Duel module may be the most complex and deeply modulatable Euclidean rhythm generating module ever. It's $20 in our store, with a free demo available if you want to give it a try!

There are some big new modules (and some big new features!) coming to Voltage Modular in the coming weeks. As always, you'll be the first to know!
All the best,
Dan @ Cherry Audio

Just a warning and a YMMV: I find, like bite_me does, that the PSP modules bring VM to another level. They are just better "basic" modules than "stock". Plus some extras which can be considered essential, such as the reverbs.bite_me wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 7:24 am ... but PSP offers some nice filters, reverbs and other. Really makes sense to buy the bundle.
VM reverb sounds very cheapo.
I bought the Core+drums bundle and started the demo on the other modules (most of them). Frankly I find the PSP bundle hard to resist except for the price. I didn't start the Vult demo our of fear. lol
So be forewarned, VM can become a money pit (in a good way), Go in knowing that you may be seduced to spend more. I am going to resist the PSP bundle due to personal affordability and hope for a sale in the future (there always is). Good luck.

I found an odd characteristic of VM specifcally with the mixers. I wanted to know how clipping was handled - was it analogue modelled etc. I ran a sine wave from an Oscillator into 3 Six Input Mixers connected in series. I put an Oscilliscope on the output of the 2nd and 3rd mixer outputs, one each so I could monitor the output. I set the in and out levels of the first two to get the output of the 2nd mixer to clip on the output. the clipped output into mixer 3. the output of mixer 3 was surprisingly an unclipped sine wave. Why? I would have expectec the output of mixer 3 to be an attenuated clipped sine which is mixer 3's input.

oh man...the ladder filter. There is no way im not getting this. I have been suffering softube for the last few days and as we have all been saying, it sounds great...but awful to use. I would happily get both if they were going to get a ton of use.
But when you open voltage, within minutes you have your basic patch idea going and its just fun all the way. Thats the kind of synth that i get good results with. and think - its still brand new. To all the people who have been critical, you have to admit, these guys are committed and already have introduced a ton of new features and modules.
Very exciting.

Plexuss,
Of course, it wouldn't be hard for any module developer to build clipping in to their mixers, if they thought it would be useful.
Dan @ Cherry Audio
Most of our modules have virtually unlimited headroom, including all of the mixers and gain modules. If you set that first oscilloscope to 10 volts instead of 5 volts, you'll see that the output wave is not in fact clipped -- you're just overloading the 5V display of the oscilloscope.plexuss wrote: Sat Dec 22, 2018 3:37 am I set the in and out levels of the first two to get the output of the 2nd mixer to clip on the output. the clipped output into mixer 3. the output of mixer 3 was surprisingly an unclipped sine wave. Good to know. And I remember reading somewhere in the thread about the "infinite headroom" but at the time I didn't have the context. I would guess this approach helps to keep levels under control. I supposed dedicated distortion modules could be use to add that kind of vibe to the signal if needed. Thanks for the details.cherryDan wrote: Sat Dec 22, 2018 5:25 am Plexuss,Most of our modules have virtually unlimited headroom, including all of the mixers and gain modules. OK, after seeing another free module (the Ladder Filter) I finally bought it. Money sent to the the retailer. Hope I can get it as my personal Christmas giftcherryMitch wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:57 pmYou can criticize however you like as long you buy it.fmr wrote: Fri Dec 21, 2018 10:19 amMan... Regarding the filter, believe me, every day here is, "hey, wouldn't it be cool if we made a module that..."
