This is 100% reasonable and normal (and your initial post was completely clear to someone reading it in good faith). I understand that IK seems to be going on the principle of "trust us, this is a huge library, it has everything you'd possibly want," and if that's enough for some people, that's absolutely fine. But asking for an actual list of what you're getting for your money should not subject you to snarky comments. I cannot understand the pushback you're getting on this.
SampleTank 4 on the way

Not at all unreasonable. I wasted 10 mins trying to find the list of included samples ("instruments", if you prefer) on the IK website.

Plus, it's not simply a matter of whether to buy or not to buy -- there are three different product/prices to choose from for which the sole difference is the content -- which is unknown! I would be shocked (and frustrated) if IK doesn't extend the pre-order pricing at least until a list of content/instruments is released for each respective tier.SirkusPi wrote: Mon Dec 31, 2018 6:13 pmThis is 100% reasonable and normal (and your initial post was completely clear to someone reading it in good faith). As it stands, I'm not prepared to decide which level I want without that information -- and given that it was requested from the beginning of the offer -- many days ago -- honestly this is turning me off to bothering at all. I agree with others -- it doesn't strike me as reasonable to expect customers to make such a choice absent a simple list of what they're getting for their incremental spend. This info doesn't seem like a big "ask" to me.
I will await word from Peter -- who is certainly entitled to take the holiday off (Happy New Year, Peter!) but, technically, their offer expires today. I, for one, intend to take advantage of a couple other expiring sales -- for which I know what I'm buying!
Maybe no money left for IK!

Yeah,I'd like a list of ST4 instruments too.Teksonik wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 1:03 pm Still not finding a printed list of the Sample Content that comes with the various versions of ST4. Certainly by now such important information has been posted somewhere and I'm just missing it ?

Sounds like someone doesn't know WTF they are talking about, since IK have been able to compress/use compressed samples since ST1, all the way back in 2002.Iva wrote: Mon Dec 31, 2018 1:18 pm "200 GB of all new sounds" for me sounds like: "we don't know how to use lossless compression formats for samples in 2019"
"Waveforms are compressed using IK Multimedia's 2:1 compression scheme, which the company has dubbed 2Pack. Samples are stored on your hard drive and played back in their compressed state. SampleTank does not use an encode and decode scheme (compressing and uncompressing waveforms as you go). [snip] That means that the sounds you loaded use less RAM and require less storage space on your hard drive. For example, a multisampled grand piano patch that might normally necessitate 28 MB uncompressed is only 13.8 MB using 2Pack."

EDIT: It is also not uncommon for companies to use the pre-compressed samples size in their marketing hyperbole, to make it sound more impressive, even though the ACTUAL installation takes up much less space.

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Yes, i spent nearly half a day contemplating whether I should take a blind shot at ST4 MAX when all I know is generic data - 250 gb samples size, "Trust us", "Up the ante", etc....
I just couldn't arrive at a decision based on the available info. We need to know the Instruments added in ST4 MAX.
Current info is hugely vague to make a well informed decision & a possible marketing disaster too, People would take the plunge without much info and then even a little dissatisfaction could lead to major frustration.
If we know what we're getting by shelling out $199, there is less chance of blaming & shaming later on!
So it's upto IKM....
Right now, I just can't justify the decision to spend $199/- without knowing what I am getting!

I might just wait a while for them to add some more products to the mix and grab a Total Studio Max crossgrade/upgrade in a year or two.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting ST4, since I love ST3 so much. I guess I'm also torn between regular and max edition without an instrument list. It also doesn't help that I just found out my second Miroslav 2 CE's zip file in my backup was broken today. So there goes all my Miro 2 brass and the three chromatic sounds. I can't justify paying 10 bucks for just these, so I'm going to hope ST4's brass makes up for the missing library.

1. They are derived directly from T-RackS and AmpliTube and are of equivalent quality.kmonkey wrote: Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:48 am Peter sorry for being partly offtopic i just saw Sampletank 4 videos and i am gobsmacked on some (FX mainly) features so i have questions.
1. Are FX from T-racks of same quality in sample tank 4 or something lower?
2. I am finding this horizontal approach way way more easier to work with. With that being said is something like that i mean horizontal rack (hence the offtopic question) planned for future of T-racks?
3. is it possible to use these FX racks as standalone effect? I mean if i buy Sampletank 4 can i somehow use it's mixing engine and FX racks as a VST FX processor?
Jesus this whole rack thing and all these compressors and load of FX seems like a very well made thing and i would literally buy just something like this...
2. That is something that has been noted especially since Syntronik's use of this format was well-received (and you can certainly find some great Syntronik pedigree in SampleTank 4's workflow) but we don't have any specific news of doing so in the future yet.
3. They are not available outside SampleTank 4 unless you use the T-RackS or AmpliTube equivalents directly.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and kind words.

The requests for an instrument list have been relayed. At this time I do not have that, beyond the information at https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/st4/#sounds but will share any information as I have it. As of now, the pre-order decisions will need to be made based on the information available, understandable that some feel there is not enough information while some feel there is in order to make such a decision. Such is the nature of pre-orders, but again the requests have been relayed so I'll share any further information as I have it. Thanks!

Forgive me for my arrogance. Bad day. I see now what you meant though initially it was not obvious for me.Teksonik wrote: Mon Dec 31, 2018 5:40 pm
Oh for God's sake are you for real ? You've been here long enough to understand I mean a list of the Instruments not the individual samples. No one in their right mind would think I wanted a list of "Cello Velocity 128 C#3" "Cello Velocity 128 D#2" etc etc.......![]()

When is the freebie version out? I want the engine, so I can finally use my ST3 / ST2 / ST1 sounds in a hopefully nicer interface.
