AFAIK, "download" was the only option for the upgrade from ST3, etc. Given the size of this thing (250 GB!) is there a thumbdrive option available at all? If so, is it too late for me to update my order? Is there an up-charge for doing so?

Thanks

The USB option is listed on the site. I changed my order via a support ticket. I'd think you could do the same. I don't remember there being a price difference.
Boxed version with USB is the same cost even incuding delivery (thats what I went for)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

But hey, look at that, this is a forum thread about ST4 - why would people do that? If you are trying to point out the obvious, that many of the questions and complaints are an exercise in futility, then bravo, well done.
Most of the stuff isn't about ST4, it's about being unappreciated as a "loyal" customer ... whatever the F that means ... confusion over the packaging and how it favors one group over another, how can I get the cheapest something or other, numerous questions that are like in the bullets of the announcement etc.. etc.. etc..

The questions about actual ST4 are great.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Not that I want to end up accidentally offending anybody [again] but I probably will just by replying to this sub-thread of comments so... Yes, there are many comments about pricing and the part about loyal customers seems to enter into the conversation because we at IK decided to open the lowest price to more people (by qualifying those with a product worth $/€99.99+ in their account). Last time I explained that this is the lowest price we were able to offer and it was a matter of allowing more people to get the same deal that others are getting it wasn't received well. However, that is the truth so I understand that one might not be happy with that truth. Those concerns have been brought to the attention of those who made that decision. Which means that many of the questions and complaints are most certainly not an exercise in futility.

Loyal customers can apply their JamPoints to get an additional up to 30% off the already-discounted pre-order pricing. That is what differentiates their deal from the deal available to someone with a product wrth $/€99.99 in their account. And those who thought a discount of 50% off was more amenable to them, I've stated that the SampleTank 4 MAX upgrade pricing is 60% off (without factoring in JamPoints, even) and the SampleTank 4 upgrade price is 50% off (again not even factoring in the additional discount one can get by using JamPoints).

A list of instruments, variations/articulations, etc is coming, whilst the pre-order pricing has been extended - this also based on questions and complaints that were not an exercise in futility.

This is great news - thank you, and thank you to the IK team for listening.

When would IK allow us to use our Gear Credits?

Never, you'll have nothing and like it!

Not that I care, or have a dog in this hunt, because I'm not sittin on a pile of gear credits - but the irony is hilarious (remember when IK advised "stock up on gear credits, they are the wave of the future"...or somethin like that, then a few months latter "nah man, you no use you gear credits for that my fren...")

Post

ST4 situation currently -
- Twisted pricing for loyal customers (People who've spent way more than $99 (I even bought Lurssen Mastering Plug!)
- No clear list of instruments
- People who bought their T-Racks 5 MAX (Like me) feel they have (almost) all the fx included in ST4, and didn't even get any added discount! We can anyways insert these plugins anyhow thru our DAW inserts, so we feel less encouraged to upgrade.

So looks like only interest for me to upgrade is for - Interface / UI which should have been better in ST3 itself!
And there too, it seems to be very little which ST4 can do that ST3 can't!!

So there is really no motivation to upgrade - Given the price structure & info gap.

There are some clear demands -
- Have a fair price upgrade structure - For people who spent at least $150 - 200+
- At least give an additional uprade discount for people who bought ST3 & T-RACKS 5 MAX - We feel we can anyways use those plugs by inserting in DAW!

Well as long as there is a Custom shop version of ST4 and it can import my ST3 library, I should be good to go. I think, I decided over Christmas that for 2019, what I need is workflow improvements, not loads and loads of new sounds (or effects for that matter). And as you stated, I can use my Tracks plugins in the DAW.

Sounds like you just need the SE Version which is just 99 minus Jam points (I doint know about you but I got 25 free for Xmas from IK for being a loyal customer  )

I also have a ton of IK stuff but the ST4 MAX upgrade cost me 160 (*after the free JAM POINTS) delivered on a USB, I am quite happy with that disciount (for something that will retail at 499)

Gear Credits were positioned as and introduced only for AmpliTube gear a la carte in Custom Shop. We expanded their use over time, we didn't exclude things that were previously available via Gear Credits nor did we state they would be usable for everything in the future.

We do have a fair structure as mentioned above: 50-60% off plus an additional up to 30% off for those loyal customers with JamPoints from larger purchases than 99.99... I apologize if the fact that others can get the same starting low price you can but they will not have JamPoints to further discount the already-discounted price.

Please review the SampleTank 4 pages on our site if you still believe that SampleTank 4 is not much different than SampleTank 3 other than sounds. There's a lot there, including some of the great Syntronik pedigree (since people really responded to a lot of great workflow/feature standouts there) and many new features, improvements, and engine. Outside of the list of sounds that's coming, we provide a lot of detail about what's new on those pages.

Post

Since I had more than enough Jam Points available to obtain an additional 30% off, due in part by IK's holiday gift, I purchased the SampleTank 4 MAX version.

TBH, I’m surprised by this response, Peter.
I’ve been an IK customer since 2014 and this is the first time I read that Gear Credits were primarily directed towards AmpliTube.
Anyway, as the IK Custom Shop sports three separate identities (AmpliTube, T-RackS and SampleTank) it would be only logical to allow us to use our Gear Credits to the max in all three.
Please convey this to your colleagues.

Why are so many people here upset about the price? Don't you realize how much effort it takes to create and support a product like this?
