Which Drum VSTs Audition & Play MIDI Grooves?

This feature is a must for me and maybe for anyone who has a large library of MIDI Drum Grooves. I'm trying to find a list of options. I know Kontakt has a few instruments that can do it, and I know Toontrack products can. Any others out there? Any that allow users to load their own samples?

Thanks for any options . . .

Addictive Drums and RMV can.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

You may want to check out EZPlayer Pro. I know you mentioned Toontrack in your post, but you may not be aware of EZP's focus on doing the thing that you're specifically interested in. If nothing else, it'll likely give you the flexibility to use whatever drum VSTi you want to -- or already have on hand. It hasn't been updated since 2015, which means it could be considered a dead product, though I tend to think of it as merely being 'completed'.

For loading samples, Poise would be the one to get. Unfortunately, OneSmallClue has gone on hiatus, so you can't buy it anymore. Maybe see if somebody in the Marketplace here will sell their copy? Though that might be fraught if there's no legit way to transfer the license...

Oh, I almost forgot a real oldie -- The SR-202 was a Computer Music magazine freebie from long ago. I remember having tons of fun with it. It will load samples, but only one per pad, so no velocity layering. You could probably do something with multiple instantiations and MIDI filtering, but I bet it would be more grief than it's worth. Can be downloaded here:

Thanks all. There doesn't seem to be anything like Poise for Mac. The above mentioned can either load samples or audition MIDI, but finding both of those features in on easy-to-use VST is the problem. I don't know why Logic won't audition MIDI grooves. Using some crazy work-around isn't the answer.

Atlas Sampler is fantastic for individual hits.

Atlas is a plugin that works in any DAW such as Ableton, Logic Pro, FL20 etc. Atlas supports both Windows and Mac in both VST and AU plugin formats. Ah ha . . . $99.00 I don't know if I can swing it, but no harm in trying it and deciding. Any other options?

I wonder if there is a dedicated MIDI groove browser player? That might be another way to go.

The problem (for me at least) with drum MIDI players, is that everyone tries to claim proprietary dominion over their products by creating different oddball MIDI formats for their grooves. Very frustrating if you find a groove that you like in one format but would like to adapt to a kit in another format.

One breath of fresh air in this regard is the MIDI player in Steven Slate Drums. This was introduced several versions ago (v. 3? mayber earlier). What makes it so cool is that there are several formats already programmed into it so that you can adapt it to MIDI files from other popular drum programs at the click of a mouse. Plus, the SSD kits themselves are very diverse and editable. I believe that there's now a free version that can be checked out, for those that are curious.

BFD3 can do it. I'm pretty sure DrumCore 4 can do it too.

I thought Toontrack could do that too with EZD2 and SD3... I cannot remember though.
