Hi all,
due to family commitments I had to sell all my hardware last year and my birthday is coming up so hopefully I will be able to buy a VST to get as near as I can to replace my Virus Snow that I really miss. I know there is no direct replacement but Spire and Hive seem to have what it takes to get pretty close. Can anyone recommend any other VST’s that would come close. Cheers Glyn.

Viper, absolutely. But it doesnt do wavetables. And it's Win only.
In my own experience, the wavetable sounds of Virus can be convincingly recreated with Parawave Rapid, which can load Virus wavetables. So buy these two, download Virus wavetables, download free Adam Szabo Phazor and you have the whole Virus covered.
If you want to have most Virus features in one synth but don't care about authentic Virus sound, then Dune3

I have virus ti snow and viper and most of other vsts and tbh viper is the closest in every departement with or without wavetables. Simply because of how the parameter control is spot on from virus.

Definitely Viper is hands down the closest vst equivalent of virus VA.

You are right about graintable, but Rapid has formant shift as a wavetable fx. It can sound similar to virus f-shift/f-spread.
