This is driving me completely insane. I've been trying on and off for weeks now and have made a thousand variations but none I'm happy with the day after.
I've watched loads of tuts but still nothing I'm happy with. Part of the reason I guess is because I want it to be melodic rather than random.
Tips? I'm thinking a highly resonant triangle wave as a starting point.

Have you ever come across Andy Farnell's "Designing Sound"? He presents a method for analyzing real-world sounds and synthesizing them from "first principles", as it were. The book focuses on examples in Pure Data, but the underlying procedural audio principles can be applied to any synthesis environment.

I haven't no, but £55Winstontaneous wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 8:23 pm Have you ever come across Andy Farnell's "Designing Sound"? It uses Pure Data for sound creation, but more importantly he presents a method for analyzing real-world sounds and synthesizing them from "first principles", as it were.

Just tighten your belt on the 'shroom budget for a couple weeks and you're golden.Mushy Mushy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 8:25 pmI haven't no, but £55Winstontaneous wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 8:23 pm Have you ever come across Andy Farnell's "Designing Sound"? It would definitely be a wise investment.

Valid point but I want to nail this in the next couple of days, ie no time for delivery.
That said, it's still a viable option.

if you give me an example I can see if I can get close.
Ive seen one done before that was pretty cool.
I could recreate it in Sytrus probably the easiest.
Let me know

Brilliant, thanks.

@19.06 is what I have in my head. Sure I could sample it but that's not the point.
Thanks again for having a go.

I need to upgrade, my synths look very different.

It's a lot of effort to create authentic water I think is the moral of the story

Just had a quick try with FuzzPilz Oatmeal.
https://www.kvraudio.com/product/oatmeal-by-fuzzpilz
(get the Lumina skin...)
The idea was to just (upward) pitch modulate a sine. And indeed it works out pretty convincingly pretty quick.
- Actually ended up using 2 sines an octave apart.
- Pitch rises some 20 semitones in some 100 ms. The main character.
- Amp Decays to silence in some 200 ms.
- A 4-pole High Pass filter at some 650 Hz. Resonance at some 40%. ENV modulates some 5.5 octaves. Attack some 50 ms. Some 30% Velocity sensitive.
- Also some random LFO modulation to both Filter Cutoff and Pitch. So hitting the same key never really gives the same pitch (of the drops/plops).
Some more fiddling will probably improve on the concept. Maybe use the additive oscillator(s) to create a more defined high frequency spectrum. Maybe some random panning.
