After a bit more fiddling with FuzzPilz Oatmeal...
This is superb, thank-you.

Are you implying you think this sound is easy?

Not at all, I'm just showing an example in the Suzanne Ciani video. Maybe it could help?

Oh ok, my apologies. I only skimmed through the video (running late) so I must have missed that bit.
Will look at it again later.

Thanks 8)

No worries,

A quick and easy trick I often use for synthesizing Rain sounds in Ableton is this.

If you create a similar patch maybe it'll help?

Slight tangent maybe, but you can get pretty good raindrops in VCV Rack (a piece of mine):

In VCV Rack terms that is using a hi-hat, Portland Weather, and Audible Instruments Resonator.

In Eurorack terms that would be Intelljel Rainmaker and Mutable Instruments Rings.

A sine pitch sweep seemed the simplest solution. The example I posted earlier (YouTube) is just Oatmeal (including Oatmeal's internal FX and ARP/SEQ). No further processing/fx.

Yeah, like others already mentioned, quick noise bursts through some kind of resonator work really well.
Here is a quick Zebra thing (Just one held note with modwheel and pitchwheel controlling "distance" and speed of the drips, respectively)

Maybe not a drop, but the sound of many?

Here I used a instance of ArcSyn to generate a long clip of Pure white noise and then proceeded to run that through a bunch of Abletons built-in FX.

I think maybe a bit of spectral filtering might bring out the actual "Drip" sounds, which would seperate it from the background noise.

When I get home this evening, I'll post a link to my Dropbox with a bunch of models I've done in ABox2.42. I believe there are rain and water models in there which you might find helpful...or not.

sine wav into heavily resonant wasp lpf with seq controlling freq.
i got a kind of dripping tap "bloop" with that.

Thanks all. I had a quick go today using some tips above and got quite close already. I should have more time this evening so will spend a bit more time perfecting it.

I think it was frustrating me so much that I ended up overcomplicating it and ventured into FM when it was completely unnecessary.

There is also the Reaktor instrument, RainGen:
