Multi tap delays

Hey guys, I was all set to buy Intellijel's Rainmaker euro rack module, surely one of the most amazing delays around, until I figured out that buying that for around $850 canadian, also meant spending at least another 4-700 on a power supply and rack case. At that point, sobered up and looked into software alterantives. I've found 3 or 4 that look good, but I want at least 6 or more taps with the ability to be able to program pitch changes for the delayed sounds. Rob Papen's RP Delay looks good, Eventide's Ultratap,Ohmboyz looks interesting as does Sandman Pro.

Melda's MTurboDelay has a multi-tap algorithm with pitch shifting, so definitely have a look at that one.

RP-Delay is multi-tap, but I don't believe it does pitch-shifting. On the other hand, Sandman Pro will do pitch shifting in the feedback loop, but it's not really a multi-tap delay, unless you consider using the left and right delay lines independently to be two (mono) taps. Of the ones you mentioned, Eventide Ultratap and Ohmboyz Infinity might be closer to what you want, but I have no experience with either of those, so I can't really make a recommendation.

Also, even though it doesn't have pitch shifting (just the usual volume, panning and filter parameters per tap), D16 Tekturon is probably the most straightforward and useful multi-tap delay I've found. I would say it's at least worth checking out.

you could also demo SonicCharge EchoBode - I know it does the pitch-shifting like crazy, not certain of your "multi" requirements

I'm also successfully using Valhalla UberMod for sexy delays/modulations

Sounds incredible and it can be as simply flexible or as multi-fathom deep as one could ever want.

you could also demo SonicCharge EchoBode - I know it does the pitch-shifting like crazy, not certain of your "multi" requirement

I checked it out and it does look and sound cool, but it only does Bode frequency shifting, while a great feature in itself, is not quite what I want, which is actual pitch shifting.

Thanks for all the suggestions and when I decide, will let you know here what I went with. I also already have MFM 2 which is amazing but only allows for 2 pitch shifts from the 4 taps.

Eventide Octavox? It's got 8 pitch-detecting delay lines and can pitch with key constraints.

There is also PSPs 608MD. Unlike the Ultratap (which I also have) it allows control over the individual delays, panning, filtering, timing etc. I have it for sale at the moment

Waves also do one I think, I have it but haven't used it.

As of now, I am leaning towards the Blue Cat which looks incredible on so many levels. I just downloaded the demo and am just fooling around so far, but man, this thing is a monster in terms of flexibility, complete and complex architecture, and does the pitch shifting as well as a step sequencer. Then being to put effects on top of a single tap, or pre and post delay, plus being able to also edit those effects makes this thing look almost incomparable to anything I have looked at or heard. What a marvellous piece of programming and the Rainmaker is out of the picture for sure now saving me around $1000 Canadian probably.

So the plunge was taken, and Blue Cat's Late Replies it is. While there also downloaded their really nice free pack to add to the arsenal. Nice looking and great sounding for basic effects one uses all the time Also admire how they incorporate one being able to use other effects inside of their delay. Nice touch. I'm also amazed at how great the reverbs in this. Highly recommended and think its expense is easily justified given how amazing it is and sounds.
