Thanks a lot bmanic!
Not at all ! Please do post your track here. I would love to check it out. In fact if anybody has one minute stuff, help yourself to this thread. We're all learning from each other after all! This can be anybody's one minute composition thread.
When you have to start, develop and end a complete idea within a limited time frame, you got to be very specific. It's not easy to do, if one is used to make long tracks.
Oh man, that V chord at the end for 'Waves of Hope' ? ha ha ha. The whole track had a mysterious vibe to it, so I thought it'd be kind of nice not to resolve on a I chord.

Cheers! Here's the tune.
Piano piece, one minute (google drive link to .wav file)
It's just a simple piano piece. Unfortunately I don't play it all that well but I was in a hurry when finishing the score for the short film so this is what I deemed good enough at that point in time. I think it's played well enough to get the emotions and thematic ideas through. I usually don't mess with first/original takes as there's usually some kind of magic in them so I never revisited this one.

Nice! The balance between the L & R hand could've been a little better, but hey it served the purpose pretty well. If you ever decided to revisit, you could even add a thin orchestration to it. Maybe some light strings and a touch of pitched percussion. Well done!bmanic wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 1:43 am Cheers! Here's the tune.

Thanks! Yeah my playing isn't stellar but as it's a midi keyboard (don't exactly remember what model it was) running one of those Kontakt piano libraries (again, don't remember exactly which one) I'm sure I could dig out the backups at some point and refine the whole thing but I have a tendency of over correcting stuff and make it robotic. This is probably why I simply kept the original take as .wav recording instead (I do also always record the midi).
Perhaps I should just notate the bloody thing and have somebody play it who can actually play piano?
Anyhow, this idea of yours and your friends to make 1 minute pieces is really inspiring. I'll definitely try to sit down at least a few times a week and make some small tunes. It's a good creative compromise for practicing making songs on a time budjet.
Cheers!

A Year of Whirlwinds (Solo Piano - Keyscape):
This is basically my 2018 experience said in one minute! It started calm just like any other year, but then things took wrong turns a few times along the way. Eventually I settled into a new calm routine. I hope I was able to project the experience through this short piece.

I like 'A Hopeful Christmas'. Lovely playing!
'A Year of Whirlwinds' is cool too.
Nice to hear some organ on the tribute.

Class playing on all of these!
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

Here's another short orchestral composition I wrote for a battle scene inspired by the game I used to play, Clash of Clans. I've used Keyscape, some CineSample and a lot of NI.

Sounds great! Suitable dramatic...
Well done!
In the 80s (when I bought a Tascam 4 track cassette for over $1000) I go the bug for 1 minute tracks and did an albums worth on cassette, so I know how the bug gets you with short tracks. A few years ago we also did a short prog epic but that had to be 2 minutes...
