UPDATE: https://www.waves.com/plugins/cla-mixhub

###

NAMM's about to go live and Waves have been teasing a new plugin.
It's obviously going to be some sort of Chris Lord Alge SSL channel strip, similar to the Scheps Omni Channel and Abbey Road TG Mastering Chain.

Fortunately someone over at GS stumbled upon an ad revealing the full product:
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/showpos ... tcount=268
Looks like it's going to share some similarities with the channel plugins from Brainworx.

I'll give it 2 months at max until it's 29$ for the first time  :D

Some kind of coordinated Waves NLS or something - but with separate plugins of your choice?

NLS has SSL as well as two other console emulations. I love what that is doing.

Softube Console 1 I guess has some similarities as well. They open up to 3rd party stuff, as I recall. Two pages of 20 buttons to directly activate channelstrip on tracks you use it on. So one or two button presses away - and you have physical knobs for it as well.

That's the hole that Waves have dug themselves - why buy a new plugin at, say, $49 (which this is probably worth, perhaps more?) when you can wait and pick it up for $29 (or less). I wanted the TG Mastering but not at $39. So I picked it up when they were doing their $10 off sales a few weeks back and I think I ended up paying $22 from one of the resellers. This'll be the same, just play the long game.

The plugin looks interesting though, I do like the Omni and TG very much, but I wonder how it differs from just whacking on E Channel and NLS?

As soon as the demo is released later today, I'll run it through plugin doctor and compare it to SSL G Channel (CLA has a 4000 G Console) and NLS :tu:

That's especially cool as it's the G Channel plugin I've got :D

Sorry before, as far I know, CLA using SSL 4056 E-Series and when he mix in-the-box, he always using Waves SSL E-Channel. I totally forgot from where I hear it, but he once said he preferred E series compared to the G series. CMIIW

From what I could gather he has an SSL 4000 G+ console, but I couldn't find any information on what modifications he has: https://www.mixonline.com/recording/chr ... lge-372731

The 4052 E seemed to be his "spare" console"https://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much ... -sale.html

Regarding the E vs. G plugins you're absolutely right: https://www.waves.com/ssl-e-channel-or-g-channel

Thank you for the correction :)
I knew about the console from the last cla mixing video in puremix.

Disappointing.

I have to say that this idea is much better realised in Reason, resulting in unparalleled workflow and speed. I wish all DAWs had this sort of system, even though it was overwhelming at first. And there's no stupid VST restrictions of "8 buckets" nor do I have to keep 4 VSTs open to see the whole chain...

I'll get it when it's $29 :D

While there's a hot chance I'll end up owning this, I personally prefer more "modern" plugins that are trying to do a bit less to emulate analog and much more to provide a better workflow and set of tools.

I think the problem with this type of plugin is that it assumes we agree that the 1987 console layout is the best way to mix. I think people that mixed in 1987 would tell you now that back then you were happy to use what you get but it was by no means perfect, and a lot has happened to interfaces in 30 years. I've heard CLA himself say that he doesn't think the console sounds that great, and it is definitely a bit of a pain to use, but he loves the fact that he knows it like the back of his hand, and once the tracks are routed in his favorite configuration (by his interns) then he can mix with speed and familiarity like fish in water.

The mix layout is not very friendly. You have to cycle through 4 tabs and that's for only 8 channels max per window. No pan in the mix view.

Just noticed that, too. That's lame o.O
Otoh they integrated the CLA-76 Bluey as an alternate compressor, which is cool. The gate has also some added functionality and there's a mix knob for the dynamics section.
