As far as I'm concerned, I don't care about the fee, because I have a voucher. I don't like the idea to pay for nothing, but I won't pay at last, so everything is in order. I'm quite happy the Dmitry Sches found a new home and can concentrate only on development.

I don't care that they transfered my user data from DS to Plugin Alliance, because it's making things easier. Anyway, this is how I would have ended it, so nevermind.

But there is one thing, one little thing, that's not making me want to "upgrade" : "v1.2 offers some small but valuable improvements, the biggest one being : if you use the PA version, you'll be able to use the plugin on 3 computers at the same time". => I DON'T GIVE A S#|T !!!!!!

If you want us to pay for an upgrade nobody asked for, at least, make it valuable...

Yes, this is a much better argument imo. They should talk about this in the newsletter instead. Anyway I know I WILL upgrade.

Notwithstanding the rights and wrongs of email sharing, unless my memory fails me, I:

a) don't recall being asked when my UA licences were transferred to PA; or
b) major drama on here about it

My memory may fail me though.

I'm no fan of PA and their ridiculous pricing lotteries and licensing restrictions but whilst the news initially had me choking on my cornflakes, on reflection I wish Dmitry well if this gives him more time to develop new stuff.

The only thing I find fishy is that the upgrade voucher for existing users expires on March 5th, it should not expire at all.

Whether the guy is/was a friendly guy is irrelevant. What we are talking about, is this way of doing business.
* They asked no permission to transfer personal data.
* The new asking price is ~240 dollar (VAT included). Is somebody seeing dollar signs in their eyes?
* Existing customers are 'happy' to get an upgrade. But only for a limited time. Oh thanks, should I be happy now? And for what, according to the e-mail? For a change in internal infrastructure. How is this my problem?
* It would have been much better communicationwise to mention that the upgrade includes some preset banks. That would have been a much better way to sell this. Again handled very badly.

People stating that you should ask Dmitry about it. This is irrelevant. Dmitry/PA should have contacted US to ask permission to transfer the personal data. Not the other way round.

For the time limits etc PA usually appear great at helping resolve frustration, even the fee who knows they might be flexible for you, any issues should drop them a line.

You can't use the "existing user" voucher and the monthly voucher together:

This product increases the level of your dynamic discount but cannot be discounted further due to a voucher.

Oddly, the only DS product i own is Tantra but i got the discount email too.

I'm disappointed that Dmity didn't handle this as well as he could have but I'm not angry with him because I know him as a kind and generous person.

In my opinion he just messed up but not out of spite. Everyone makes mistakes......

welp, i paid my ransom and someone else posted the email for me to read. i have say it all went smoothly and it actually does feel and play smooth and clean. it actually feels a little more stabile to me. there are no changes to the instrument that i notice, just some extra edm presets. i'm calming down, this was just handled very poorly.

Right. Everybody makes mistakes. This one was a whopper. If somebody wanted to press the issue (I doubt anybody really cares enough to) they could cause a TON of legal problems for both DS and PA.

I really gotta wonder what both of them were thinking.

No worries. This is the usual price upgrade to enable the usual discounts.

Forgetting about the fee, DS shared info with PA that he had no right to share legally, end of story.

Well, intentionally pissing people off is pretty stupid so I don't think this is the case.
And as we don't know the agreement between Dmitry and PA, is hard to know where the origin of this conduct lies. Yet, we do know that the violation of personal data has to be attributed to Dmitry as he was the one that had the data.

But when a company

* doesn't give a shit about privacy laws
* ups the asking price by a huge amount
* somewhat 'forces' existing users to upgrade as the "existing user" voucher is only valid for a month.
* wants users to pay for internal proces optimisations that will ultimately benefit the company

I know that I will have nothing to do with that company anymore.
And yeah, that kind of conduct pisses me off.
