just custom built Windows 10 DAW PC for the "main studio" ( and macbook pro for portable work etc) .
the motherboard is Gigabyte Z390 with ThunderBolt expansion support.

so can any ThunderBolt Audio Interfaces be used for Windows Thunderbolt ?
or only those PreSonus Quantum (with not so great pres and converters) .
or is there difference between Mac and Windows TB support ?
win7 x64. cubase 8 x64.
Asus p6t/i7-920/24GB.

Looks like the Z390 Designare is having problems with Thunderbolt 1 interfaces, but

If it has drivers for Windows, yes. Most do.

This is why I keep parping on about current TB implimentations not being native. They are routing through their own third party USB-C implimentations and they are a bit hit or miss at best. Asus bottled it on Z170 and now Gigabyte seems to have stuck out on Z390.

I really can't wait until we have Intel onboard USB-C with Intel onboard TB being piped through it.

Thunderbolt data rates are awesome.. but do they affect your production? Probably not if you already work with usb 3 and you don't record 10 instruments at once. I would stick with conventional usb interfaces - or go straight optical/analog.

USB4 is coming soon , I seen the news yesterday . It's the successor to Thunderbolt 3 , but it won't be locked to just Intel / Apple . With speeds of 40gbps ... hopefully we will see Mobos and audio interfaces before 2020 ...

I have MOTU Thunderbolt 2 1248 and 16A. I use Asus add on Thunderbolt card through USB C and Apple USB 2 to USB 3 adopter with Z270 Motherboard. I had everything working excellent for a year, and now I am having issue of something connecting and disconnecting- did not figure out if it is Apple adopter or Thunderbolt cable or what the issue is. But in general- it is lovely set up. It works.
