A question for those who have mentioned the treatment of ST2 instruments. Have you converted them to ST3 format using ST3 before trying to use them in ST4?DrumAddict wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:36 pm personal if i had known before that older imported ST2 Instruments are not really compatible and cant resaved to ST4 engine ...
SampleTank 4 on the way

It's had no effect (although the instruments.db file seems to be smaller now), so it seems to be picking up the names from scanning through the actual instrument files - or it's picking up a cache I haven't found.DarkStar wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:03 pm ^^^^
If you are brave, you could try renaming 2 of them temporarily to get them out of the way. At your own risk, of course.

yes , as you can not import ST2 Instruments into ST4 directly , i have asked this before to the IKM Staff and it is removed you needs at least one of the ST3 versions to do so . try to resave , load or create Multis from them and try to resave . you will see what hapens it does not open correctly and or can find the soundfiles anymore . if they have stated or said this before i would not have bought ST4 at all .rrichard63 wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:39 pmA question for those who have mentioned the treatment of ST2 instruments. i also can see yet again that there will be not much 3rd Librarys or Expansions from sounddesigner except IKM itselves .

I tried just to remove two of the three ST4 .pak Files with the effect, that the Libraries are no longer available in the Librarylist, but no effect on the triplet-instrument-display-problem.Gamma-UT wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:00 pmYou may have hit on why it's happening. There are three .pak here files in the Library Info folder - one for each version of ST4 up to Max. I'm wondering if the database is reading each one and rematching instruments.zzz00m wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 5:47 pm Not seeing the triplicate names some have reported, but assume maybe a difference in Standard vs. Max? I have ST4 Standard.
I added my entry in the Multiple instrument-thread of the IKM-Forum and hope IK will find soon a general solution for it.

I think it's safe to say that 100% of the folks reporting problems here on the forum have problems.
It remains to be seen how widespread real issues actually are. I'm willing to bet the majority are DAW compatibility issues, as is typically the case with new plugins. I'm actually referring to real problems here, not dissatisfaction with the workflow and design changes, or the size & number of download files.
I feel sorry for the IK support techs when they open up their ticket queue on Monday morning!

I uninstalled it. I'll just wait to reinstall in a couple of years or so when they actually want to sort out these issues.
The fact they have 2 seperate engines and barely any support for their past libraries is not only upsetting but concerning. I bet in a years or so time you'll have to use Chicken Systems Translator to convert your old ST libraries to ST4 in order to ise the new features with them (when no other sampler I know of eliminates its old libraries from being used by a future updated engine).
I apologize to the forum for my previous disrespectful language, but IK has the most terrible rollouts for arguably their most time revered product that gained them notoriety. ST3 rollout was equally as bad... and I waited 3 years to get that. Maybe I should've done the same with this.
All in all, its my fault for being so frivolous with my equipment finances. I should've invested in a more stable NI instrument or a Uhe synth or just learned how to build better samples myself. Lesson learned. No more $ to IK unless its a B1G10 sale.

If you are interested in anything new or any kind of progress dont be afraid to find and solve problems.
As attractive a piece of software is, as widespread are the problems.
Presumably no one would have had yet the time to realise any new project with ST4 to judge anything realy meaningful based on own expierence.
So I would assume it is worth to be patient for the next days and weeks.

Sad that IK obviously didn't do proper beta testing and rushed this out, because ST4 has so much potential. If they had slowed down and let a few of us (for example) test this, they would've known that instrument listings are duplicated (how could they have missed that??) and that the browser kinda sucks (I choose Guitars and there isn't an Acoustic filter? Shouldn't Piano and Electric Piano be separate categories? Where the hell are my nice folders of Imported Instruments???).
But, I feel bad that all I've done is complain... 4.0.0 hasn't crashed or had memory problems on MY iMac (4 GHz i7, 24GB, all SSD) - sorry for folks that are having those problems. There are some nice new instruments in there. I'll try to attach a song I quickly redid with all ST4 instruments (except for the weird ST2 Berimbao that starts the track). 6 instances of ST4 with some UAD Neve & Ampex.

I have received a response from IK Multimedia support. They're looking into the problems. Nothing and I mean nothing is working on my system. Many of you are talking about issues related to things you're finding once you got ST4 installed and the libraries downloaded. ST4 doesn't work as a plugin or in standalone mode on my system. In twelve years of doing computer-based music production I have never run across a product with this many problems. I hope that I have not just wasted the last three days.

There definitely are multiple reports of this so the devs have been made aware via the reports from here, the IK forum, and support tickets. Thank you for reporting it here (you and others, I mean) and via support. The specific information about your setup is good too and I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon.ellsworth wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 8:25 pm Just confirming for those who are wondering that I too have the triplicate sound listings (iMac 2015, High Sierra)

That first line... Yes, 100% of the people reporting problems do have problems. But not to joke too much as it is frustrating for them, and those problems will be fixed. I just chuckled at the way you said it. Reminded me of the line from a movie "60% of the time it works every time". People having issues isn't a funny topic though. They'll be taken care of shortly.zzz00m wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 7:03 pm I think it's safe to say that 100% of the folks reporting problems here on the forum have problems.

The support team will not be deluged Monday because they definitely are workin the queue hard this weekend too, and I appreciate that they're recreating the problems and reporting them and we've already had an update to the main application but there's definitely still road to travel and I appreciate the patience and understand that there will be frustration and how that might manifest. I'll start slow-cooking that hat and/or crow soon if that helps. But overall, yes they're aware and working hard and want everybody to be satisfied with SampleTank 4. It really does sound great and has some amazing new features and we'll get everybody on track so that they can enjoy all of it.

Per the SampleTank 4 announcement news (and it should also be reflected in the KVR news too), the pre-order pricing runs until March 5th.simon.a.billington wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 10:30 am I hope that you do stretch out the introductory price being launch day.
