Also, switching between presets always makes stand alone crash. It loads the new preset, but I play a few notes and bbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz crash.

Looks like a few issues exist. 4.01 is better though. How does one get 'the grid' to authorise. The files are in the sound library, its authorised through IK authoriser, and it works in ST3? Also why is there 2 of every preset. Finally what's Miroslav Philharmonik 2 Classic edition. Its got a download icon, clicking it sends me to my products but its MP2 and I already have that installed?

The Grid is loading fine for me. But I had it with ST3. Anything I scanned in that directory is working. Although I have to kind of randomly search stuff because of my fonts problems.

Hit and miss it looks like. Grid works for me in ST3 but is locked ( Library icons ) in ST4

yep same... grid locked here too. works in ST3 but not ST4. duplicate listings (two) in ST4 browser and standalone crashes changing presets... well sometimes. i think i made it through maybe a dozen testing the sounds then CTD

(none of ST4 plugins work CTD only standalone)

When I download the Sound FX pack, It says PART 1, but there is no PART 2 to download. I am getting some sounds that won't load in that pack, perhaps because I need PART 2 to load them??? Anyone else experiencing this? Can't load any of the Fantasy, Horror, Sci Fi, Thriller sounds.

I had this issue with. ST4 using a notation font. I logged on as another user and didn’t have the issue. So I worked around it by moving into that profile. Had to phaff around re -authorising some other plugins after doing this.

What about the USB versions? (thats what I ordered but I am out of the country for a few weeks)

Thanks, it's good to see a glimmer of hope! I downloaded everything on day 1 (and 4.0.1 on day 2) but held off installing after seeing some of the horror stories.

I am on Windows 10. One thing that concerns me is the "SampleTank_4_Instruments_Installer.zip" which I downloaded on day 1 is no longer available for download in my account suggesting that it has been removed for whatever reason (buggy?). So I am now pondering how best to install the sounds. I can see the folder structure within the instruments installer and also within each sound content file. So I could create the folder structure manually and then manually extract the content from each sound content file. Then again that is a lot of manual (i.e. error prone) work.

Just wondering fahl5 how you did your sound content installation? Thanks

Each sound zip contains an installer.

Not all do. Sta Woodwinds samples -parts 1 and 2 do not. MP2CE Parts 1,2 and 3 do not. SampleTank 3 SE sound content part1 & 2 do not. On top of that, the AU version of 4.0.1 crashes Logic Pro X plugin manager, at least on my system. I installed the content on an external HD. I can't get the stand-alone version to see the content even though it has the correct path. NOTHING is working here.

I’m well impressed. The pianos are super nice. The woodwinds are my least favourite. Miroslav CE which I dissed in a previous post is slowly growing on me, too and some of the old ST3 sounds are very good as well. I also downloaded Syntronik. I know, whether synth samples are needed is debatable. However I like the sounds and I’ve never heard any of the original synths played live anyway.

All in all ST4 Max is exactly what I’ve been looking for. A workstation you can use for a complete song. Mind you, the sounds are saturated in effects and I’m no pro musician, but I like what I hear and that’s all that matters to me.
