Honestly, the sound selection doesn't work for me right from the beginning (e.g. the test tone type thingy bites me). And it doesn't get better though there's some artistic tweaking later on - but also then it feels that there were some wrong decisions made soundwise. You know, like combining colors that don't fit.

I liked the rhythmic elements and I think its very creative. So well done for that.
I am struggling to like the lead sound. Its too jarring, screetchy for me.
Some good elements in there though.
@7:28 I like the detuned bass, its sound and melodic structure.

i'm not hearing anything too extreme in the 3-5khz freqs
but the leads do top off pretty high at the 1khz freqs
so that may be what he is referring to.

Okay I am rendering a version with some cuts on the highest frequencies. I only have a pair of headphones so it's entirely possible that on many other playback systems some of the highs are annoying.
See if I can come up with a mix where the lead still cuts through the mix but does not become to annoying and fatigue on your ears. I hope to get a bit of studio time with a friend this week so I can do a mix on monitors as well.

If it was up to me personally, I'd simply choose a more fitting lead sound, and not work on EQing the exisitng one. Imho.

Comments: The bell is bordering on a little much, but tolerable. Otherwise, sounds okay to me. Fairly interesting piece. Of course in this genre there's just not enough variation and melody for me, which is why my Trance attempt was not received very well. Musically, kind of meh. Sound wise, as far as the instruments, outside of that bell, very interesting sounds. The one other lead is a little screechy but again, tolerable. I am curious as to what synths you used to create this track with. All in all, not bad at all.

I myself am fine with the sounds, but as far as the frequency spectrum balance.
i'm noticing too much under 40hz energy getting by, not enough 50-60hz,
and a lacking of sizzle caused by a rolloff of highs at 1khz instead of 15khz.

It started with somebody on reddit who could not run 10 instance of Serum at the same time and other people saying that was normal which I strongly disagreed with. So my plan was to make a track with about 10 times Serum. That's how the track got started. So all of it is Serum, of course some audio for the drums. And also one keyscape for the dulcitone (the bells)

I used these 5 presets

The other 6 instances of Serum I made myself. I made those sounds in function of templates I use while busking.
