If you buy ST4 do you get ST3 legacy content?

You get the ST3 instruments library with ST4 and ST4 MAX.

ST4 SE only gets the ST3 SE content.

Well that's great! Sampletank 3 DOES have strings; I feel much better now and don't mind waiting for the USB.

That was mostly others, though I have posted the comparison and lists elsewhere We have also been striving to improve the list presentation to better show the SampleTank 3 content which also seems to have been pointed out by others first. Well done, everybody, I do appreciate it.

I am working on updating the official SampleTank 4 Status list and thread on the IK Forum when 4.0.2 is released. Stay tuned for that.

I must say now that I finally have all of ST4 MAX installed and working, the product is quite impressive. Such a huge scope and lots of good sounding instruments... relatively quick to load and tweak... I feel like I'll get a lot of use out of this.

Sadly - the workaround did not work for me. I removed the ST4 library path and rescanned. All ST3, Syntronik and Legacy content started working. Added ST4 library path as the second path and rescanned again and the ST4 content is now being looked for in the ST3 path and cannot be found - ST3, Syntronik and Legacy content still working.

It may have been my fault - I may have managed to install either some ST3 content in the ST4 folder or vice versa during my initial troubleshooting. IK has responded to my ticket and is being very helpful (not asking stupid newb questions )

I may end up doing a full reinstall ST3, Syntronik, Philharmonik, import legacy content into ST3, then finally reinstall ST4. Not much time tonight so it may take me a while to report back.

There were definitely fixes to those Strings 3 & 4 implemented, and noted in the status thread/updates. So that was an issue at the beginning, for sure, verified and resolved.

Oh crap, I just edited the status list as I did not indicate that they had been fixed! Now I understand [that I caused] the confusion.

I was talking about files I already downloaded and installed February the 23st which as I reported didn't show any sign of corruption at all. All were extracted, installed and loaded without problem. The only thing which might perhaps make a difference is the fact, that I extracted most of the content with 7zip to get the mass of 90 Files extracted in one process.

However the impression some people here are obviously trying hard to evoke, that ST4 was nothing but a buggy betaversion, is nearly the opposite of what my experience was with the installation and first usage of the new ST-Version is.

OK thats are all obviously Mac speciofic inconveniences. I always knew that Windows is simply the most reliable and rock solid plattform.
Here at least from the beginning EVERYTHING (except the little triplet display-bug) is working, so perhaps you should think about using a more reliable plattform .

That as little as unimportant joke defenitly doesn't justify any distraction at all as it was stirred absolutly up exaggerated by some members here.

More obvious seem to be, that some people here are not willing to accept that other users have a different and yes more positive first impression of ST4.

What is the exact order of installing this thing?

There is no required order, but you should install all of the SampleTank 4 sound libraries that it appears you have downloaded. Also note that the updaters just released should be installed afterward, then update SampleTank to 4.0.2. That should resolve issues you are having and IK Support can help with any issues you still may encounter (they typically respond within 1-2 business days).

Edit - sorry I missed it but SampleTank 2.x libraries will not load in SampleTank 4 directly. You must install the SampleTank 3 content (which includes the SampleTank 2.5 XL content you reference) in order to use it in SampleTank 4.

Just finished my first project using nothing but SampleTank 4 Max instruments. I have to say that so far it’s very impressive. Instruments load quickly and the sounds are superb. Hoping to get further under the hood with the latest version.

heads up for Peter and who concerned:

4.0.2 seemed to have fixed my problem with VST2 plugin. it now functions in FL Studio correctly so this must have fixed some

but sadly Studio One is still only seeing the VST3 version of the plugin and continues to crash. as for Pro Tools 12.7 it completed the plugin scan but i have yet to test the instrument but i think that fix referenced may have fixed that issue the same as it did with FL Studio.

so other than S1's problems... we are making headway cheers
