SampleTank 4 on the way

Hi I'm having the same "missing pak file" error and I'm unable to get any sounds loaded. I've opened a support ticket but they haven't responded so I'm reaching out here.

This is the error that I get
Instrument ST4 Error. Cannot locat Tank at path 'Z:/Sampletank 4/Samples/22_ST2 XL/Bass/Modern Slap LM.pak' This occurs for every instrument that I am trying to load.

What is the exact order of installing this thing?

I've downloaded all the sound files (except for the ST3 files). Do I run the sound installer for each of the sound files? It asks me for a path and I enter my external drive path (Z:\Sampletank4) but ST4 never sees any of these files.

There is no required order, but you should install all of the SampleTank 4 sound libraries that it appears you have downloaded. Also note that the updaters just released should be installed afterward, then update SampleTank to 4.0.2. That should resolve issues you are having and IK Support can help with any issues you still may encounter (they typically respond within 1-2 business days).

Edit - sorry I missed it but SampleTank 2.x libraries will not load in SampleTank 4 directly. You must install the SampleTank 3 content (which includes the SampleTank 2.5 XL content you reference) in order to use it in SampleTank 4.

Then I started up Sampletank 4 where it rebuilt its database.

Then the same thing happens

yes i have re-scanned and cleared blacklist multiple times. but to fix my waves problem (v9 and v10 plugs) with S1 i had to remove a .ini file i think it was and force it to re-write it before it would actually see a few of my new v10 plugs. wondering if that might help but as i stated before S1 is seeing and scanning other VST2 plugs but will not recognize the VST2 version of ST4... it only sees the VST3 version and it still crashes to desktop on instantiation. cheers and thnx for tryin' to help

MagDog; I just remembered I once had a problem with Studio 1 not seeing a VST .dll.
It was Omnisphere and for some reason S1 would NOT see the Omnisphere .dll in the folder
(for example c/steinberg/VST )
I finally created a new folder for omnisphere (ie, C/Steinberg/VST/OmniVST/.

It then worked.

Another weird thing that I noticed here is that Studio One doesn't recognize the Syntronik VST2 either.

Just finished my first project using nothing but SampleTank 4 Max instruments. I have to say that so far it’s very impressive. Instruments load quickly and the sounds are superb. Hoping to get further under the hood with the latest version.

That was fast! Thank you for the kind words and for using SampleTank 4 for your project. Please do share if you feel so inclined, we'd love to hear what you've done.

Working on new project and discovered some guitar samples missing (you don’t know that’s the case until you try to load them - so what else could be missing from the list?). Contacted support, although it won’t hold me back. Still having a few issues with the imported samples as well but I don’t have time at the moment to investigate these further.

@zzz00m i bought into S1 at the advent of v2 years ago and i have problems with it from time to time. sad thing nobody wants to admit it ain't perfect yet but it is getting there. FAR better than it was and although it screws the pooch from time to time i think it is the best for me. easy to get my head around, easy to set up and automate, easy routing anyway you need it. not trying to sell the dang thing lol... but i DEFINITELY have a love/hate relationship with it. in my mind it is NOT beyond the scope of it being the culprit in the problem. it likes to pick and choose what it sees and has in the past. but at least IK can go over it with a fine tooth comb. maybe they will find something. maybe tomorrow i will check PT12. cheers

Can you just clarify the order of installation? I have ST4 Standard but haven't installed anything yet awaiting bug fixes (but already have ST3 MAX installed from pre ST4 days).

Is the following correct (I am using filenames minus .zip below to avoid ambiguity)? :

• Run SampleTank_4_0_0 (or can I just go to step 2?)

• Run SampleTank_4_0_2

• Run SampleTank_4_Instruments_Installer

• Run all of the separate instrument installers (I make it 29 files here for the ST4 std)

• Run SampleTank_4_Sound_Library_Update_1_1

I am running the Windows version on Windows 10.

vksf01 from your screenshot seems you haven't installed ST3 content yet. Or ST3 content is on another location.

As I understand it:
-- MP1 (and ST2, SampleMoog etc) are not directly supported by ST4,
-- you should be able to get ST Custom Shop from your User Area and install it,
-- then Import MP1 into the ST3 Library.
-- and add that ST3 library to ST4.

But ... I did see one user report that the ST3 Custom Shop library did not work (could not be seen?) in ST4.

Is there anywhere that lists exactly which sounds from previous versions of Sampletank are included in Sampletank 4 SE? I have both Sampletank 3 full and Sampletank 3 SE but never installed the former; is it included in Sampletank 4 SE or is it worth it to download it separately?

My USB has yet to be shipped. Are others receiving their USB’s? I’ve contacted sales twice. First time was told they would be shipped early this week. Tomorrow is Thursday still nothing. Emailed again and have not heard back. Are USB’s shipping?

As a user, I can confirm that it does, with some caveats. Miroslav 1 cannot be imported directly into ST4, but it can be imported into ST3. If you do not have ST3, I believe the free Sampletank 3 Custom Shop edition has the ability to import Miroslav 1 (perhaps Peter can confirm this?)

Once you have Miroslav 1 imported as a legacy instrument in ST3, you can rescan the ST3 library in ST4 and Miroslav 1 will be available in ST4 (SE, Standard or MAX). Some new ST4 features (mod matrix, for example) will not be available for ST3 or legacy instruments, but the samples will work as well as in Miroslav Philharmonik 1 or ST3.

Any ST2.x content you have will not work in SampleTank 4 directly. however, it will work if you import it using SampleTank 3. that includes Miroslav 1, as well as any other SampleTank libs you may have (SampleTron, Squids libraries, etc.).

I do not see a conflict between what Darkstar wrote and what I wrote. Am I misunderstanding you? I am using Miroslav 1 (legacy content) in ST4 right now, but it required loading it in ST3 first and then rescanning the ST3 library with ST4. It will not load directly into ST4.

{Edited, based on new info] Studio One will only show the VST3 version in the instrument browser if both VST2 & VST3 versions are present.

If you want to use the VST2 version instead of the VST3, just rename or move the VST3 plugin file out of the default VST3 folder path.

Make sure that you have "Scan at startup" checked in your VST options, and restart Studio One. Your VST2 will be available.
