I will add one more fat minus of Sampletank in 2019 - unfortunately I discovered that, like ST3, it only involves one processor core. There is no multithreading!
I refused because of this reason from Falcon, which with one or two patches of sufficient complexity can make any modern computer surrender.

Omnisphere 2.5 is great, I really love the sounds and creativity possible with it, but comparing it to SampleTank 4 is like comparing apples and oranges. They are two very different instruments. SampleTank is more of an allrounder while Omnisphere is more synthesis based.

I agree that it's possible to make great music with even the cheapest equipment available, but it's one thing to make great music and completely different thing to make it SOUND great.
You can compose an inspirational beat with stock free drum samples and cheap sound fonts, but if you wanna bring some depth and have a shot at reaching the top 40, you may want to chose the best sound sources available to you. Sound selection is no joke.

Don't take Layzer personally. He just needs to keep telling people that they should be able to make music with a tin can and a pair of old shoelaces and it'll sound better than any $10,000 synth on the market.HM wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:53 amYes that's obvious ,.. don't know why you have to paint me as a stereotypelayzer wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2019 7:14 pm and if you switch to omni, think your music will be any better?
you'd still be depending monstrous sample content. FK that.
learn to make great music no mater what you use.
I am in no hurry, like said do fine with Studio One's bundeled sounds, and what else I got,..
Belive it or not ,.. I even got real instrument![]()
But to say that I can then never go look for something new like what mentioned is another extreme
I've learned to just ignore him when he goes on like this. He makes some cool sounding music and can mix with the best of them, but he's a bit of an ass sometimes.

It looks like you can purchase it second-hand for $145 here if anyone is interested (I'm not the one selling it, I just saw the thread): viewtopic.php?f=43&t=520662Halion is more expensive

a smart ass. get it right.
i'm not brainwashed by companies pushing ridiculous bloated content
then turning around selling it for hundreds.
companies will have you brainwashed into
thinking you need 5000 pots and pans too cook
a good meal, when all you need is a few and skills.
It IS the effects that matter. Eventide knew this and
thats why they were able to put hefty price tags on their
effects units back in the day. even today the only plugin
that ISNT bloated content that sells for over $500 is...wait for it....
the Algorithmix K-stereo plugin.
http://www.algorithmix.com/en/kstereo_order.htm
and what kind of plugin is it? an effects vst.
but... go on bending over....

There is no question that FX and processing are the most important part of a sound. However, there are simply some sounds that can't be "convincingly" made by any synth, let alone an expensive one.layzer wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:52 pma smart ass. get it right.

If you're looking to do even remotely realistic recreations of acoustic instruments (guitars, violins, etc.) no synth, regardless of how many FX you put on it, is going to fool anybody with any kind of a discerning ear.
Then there is the sampling of certain sounds (ambient, esoteric, whatever you want to call them) that no synth on its own is going to recreate unless it has a built in sampler.
Then there are synths that have such amazing FX (Falcon comes to mind) that it's worth buying them just for the FX alone.
I can't speak for everybody else, but I am far from brainwashed. I look at what a synth has to offer and then determine if I think it has something that I can make use of. I have no allegiance to any company on this planet. My only allegiance is to making music, something I think I've gotten a lot better at and something that I don't think I could do AS WELL without the tools that I own.
My problem with you (in spite of your obvious skills) is that if somebody isn't scraping pencils and sprinkling the graphite onto their Windows XP OS and feeding into a 20 year old DAW, they're idiots. You've made me feel like an idiot on more than one occasion. It used to bother the hell out of me. Now I just shrug my shoulders and go "Eh, that's Layzer."
But I can understand it getting on people's nerves. How about we live and let live. You don't have to say the word Omnibloat 2000 times a day. We get it. You don't have to keep telling us Windows 7, 8 and 10 are buggy. We get it. You don't have to keep telling us that you can pull a McGyver and weld a stick of Juicy Fruit and a corkscrew together and create an ambient masterpiece. We get it. You're the god of all things music and the rest of us should just be honored to be in your presence.
We get it.
So how about letting us poor dumb mortals have the tools we enjoy using and leave us be?
Now maybe somebody will listen to my sappy Broadway tune that I just posted over at Music Cafe.
