SampleTank 4 on the way

It turns out that the list was comprised of five issues that were specific to the SampleTank 4 application/plugin and the others were downloading/installation-related.

People aren't stupid. We can see this is the worst product launch perhaps in history. Instead of trying to minimize the problems be a man and own up to the fact that IK dropped a steaming pile of beta on the market and are now having to do damage control.

Instead of trying to make it sound like there aren't many problems just apologize especially to those who pre-ordered then were to forced to beta test this mess for you. Apologize to those who paid and still haven't received their product.

Everyone makes mistakes but only real men and women own up to them....everyone else makes excuses.

For those having the problem of the LOCKED SampleTank 4 library button, I seem to have found a workaround, but I would consider this most definitely a BUG which should be fixed.

To workaround, one needs both library paths for SampleTank 4 added - the path where SampleTank erroneously thinks the content is, and the path where the user actually installed the content.

To workaround:

1) Add "C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 4"
2) Add "E:\SampleTank 4 Sound Content", or whatever path to the directory where you have installed the content.

I don't know if this is a side-effect of installing the content on drive other than C:. I hope it is fixed soon.

What a steaming pile of tripe ST4 turned out to be. Besides what was can only be described as the most miserable Draconian installation process ever foisted on the public, there are vocal samples where the loop points are clearly heard, Guitar, Bass and EP samples that fire late, imported ST2 samples that distort as you travel up the keyboard, knobs in the effects racks that are more likely to physically move the effect (causing audio glitching) than a parameter adjustment, and to add insult to injury, an email was sent with a link to a page said to be an FAQ for sound library issues that in fact, leads to a “Page Not Found”.

I swear by all that’s holy, I will never purchase another IK product as long as I live. This company should be ashamed, and as far as I’m concerned, they should offer a partial refund for early adopters. Not Jam points....an actual refund.

I had this problem early on and I think there might be a couple of causes. This solution did not work for me. I contacted IK support and they resolved within 2 days. Make sure you get an auto reply when you open a ticket, otherwise it might not have actually gone through to support.

In my case, I had accidentally installed some ST3 content in the ST4 folder. Once they helped me sort the content into right folders and add both the ST3 and ST4 folders to the library path, everything worked 100% - ST4, ST3, Syntronik and legacy imported libraries.

After downloading the corrupt sound files I can finally put Sampletank 4 to some use. As said before the sound quality of the new instruments is excellent. The "only" problem there is the fact that ST4 stresses my CPU/Ram which can lead to ST4 playing no sounds anymore. Hope this will get fixed in future updates. Then we might have a really good product.

Here is the main thing. IK is way too large of a company to come out with a product that has so many issues for so many people. If they were a smaller developer, some of these things would really be a nonissue. But they are a global company with a large consumer base.

Personally, I refuse to install ST4 on my system until maybe a year or so when they get the bugs ironed out. Im highly contemplating selling it as Im fine with ST3. As Weasel Boy said, this may be my last IK purchase. I just dont have time in the day to check over a product for bugs (and not get paid for it).

Bitchin & moanin aside, I hope these issues get cleared up & IK gives their ST customers some kind of apology. They are great at sampling instruments and I wish them continied success. However, at their level, there is no excuse for such a large subpar product being released no matter how you cut it.

We have been transparent about the reported issues that required global fixes. It turns out that the list was comprised of five issues that were specific to the SampleTank 4 application/plugin and the others were downloading/installation-related.

I do not feel that this was unprofessional in any way to point this out, and I have done my best to keep people here fully aware of these issues (all have been fixed and I have added the additional issue that is already fixed in the 4.0.3 update that is coming) and have posted it on a [url=https://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/vi ... 0719sticky on the IK Forum so people can keep track directly as needed.

People are reporting their issues as you point out, and IK Support are verifying and reporting those that are global to the developers (as you can see, they are taking quick action on those) and assisting people directly who are experiencing issues that are unique to them in their setup.

Note that IK is well-aware that this is the first time IK has released a product this large, and we realize that our delivery system can be improved - we are indeed working on that with gusto based on the vast majority of the reported issues being related to download/installation. Until we have a better solution, the current system works (all downloads have been working very well for a while now as the team did jump on any problematic files as quickly as possible). I acknowledge that the current delivery system requires a little patience, and we are most definitely aware of this and intend to make the appropriate improvements to that system for such large amounts of content in the future.

Seriously, all you doing in this 80 longs page thread is covering your company's ass for their failed attempt at competing with native instruments.
If you can't accept the fact that your company f**ked up big time and doesn't think about any kind of compensation or even apologize or accept the fact that this is NOT how a product should be released in 2019, I will say this:
Sampletank 4 IS A FAILURE.
It's STILL doesn't work for me, it took me 3 days to install and download this pile of crap, and I promise you that if in the upcoming months there won't be a fix to end all these crashes I will get my full refund in one way or another.
I've wasted too much time and energies over this catastrophic product and all your posts won't make any change for the simple fact that I bought your product and I'm unable to use it.

It's not the first time im pre ordering a vsti, I have never had such a terrible expirence as I had with sampletank 4 and honestly I regret falling for this trap.

You send your customers to open tickets and work as your beta testers with your "support", guess what? We don't have time for this nonsense.

If you really give a tiny f**k about this situation, you can send my screenshots from previous pages to your software developers and let them find a solution.

I am a long time IK customer. This is by far the worst product of this price I have ever bought, and not just from them. It is going to be a long time before I consider buying anything else from them.

I know that I am saying nothing new, but they need to hear how angry they have made even loyal customers.

We offer the USB version for those that do not have the bandwidth/etc to do so easily at this time, and as stated above will improve the download/install process for large content releases (noting there that this is our largest ever and we've learned from it).

Yes, I think it is important for IK to know that I won't be buying another one of their products, and I'll be migrating away from the few IK products I'm using. The biggest issue I have is that they knowingly unleashed this unfinished software on customers - if they say they weren't aware of all these issues... well that's even worse, because that shows true incompetence. I can imagine that one or a handful of jerks at IK demanded that they release ST4 as is, and that is sad for the software and support engineers who are now overwhelmed with angry users.
