I am looking for free instruments that replicates real instruments.

So far I've downloaded something called Dexed. It is a replica of the Yamaha DX 7 that we used to have in the house.

But I miss the sounds from the real instrument. I found no extra sounds for Dexed.

Is there a list of free software replica of real instruments ?

Only 64bit please.

I also want drums and acoustic instruments.

Thank you
You can try Lord of the Springs, which is a free Physical Modelling Synth developed by Taron. But the fundamental question is, are you looking for a free synth with presets for these instrument sounds or are looking to learn how to synthesize them? If it's the former, look at romplers or sampler based synths.

Other wise, as @Ranoka said, Triple Cheese is a great place to start learning to synthesis real instruments. And as Ranoka mentioned, go through the list of synths used in the OSC and the tracks made with them. The "realness" of the sounds ultimately comes down to the skill of sound designer and not always the synth itself.

A good free sampler would be TX16Wx...

https://www.tx16wx.com/

It will load Soundfonts and you can find thousands if you search. A good one to start with is the Fluid GM Soundfont...

https://packages.debian.org/sid/fluid-soundfont-gm

This should get you started.

EDIT

The Fluid GM Soundfont can be found here...

http://www.synthfont.com/soundfonts.html

You will also need the sfArk tool to unpack it.

Don’t forget SQ8L. Man, I love the sound of that thing. I always think of the Legendary Pink Dots from the days of yore when I play it. I would pay for a paid update and a port over to Mac but, it still runs solid on a PC
Pink dots ?
The Legendary Pink Dots. Legendary is part of the name of the band.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I googled many of the instruments. As I understand many of them are not replicas (but maybe good anyway). Some are I think SQ8L is not 64bit.

Is there any alternative link to the Dexed library ? The link on the website is not functioning.

As always with many many presets. Needs more time to find a sound than programming it yourself - including learning how to do it...
Ehhh....not so true with FM
Well, I learned this lesson with my good old faithful DX 7. And that was in times there did not exist such a thing as an editor for it... Nowadays its even more true than in the 80s...
Especially, the more presets exist you could wade through, the more time you waste...

64 bit free, very slim. Use a bridge and it opens up really quickly.

These are really good considering they are free.

What if there was a band named "The Legendary Pink Dots. Legendary is part of the name of the band." That whole thing.

:hihi:

OP: these are cool for free electric organ models of a particular flavor: http://www.vst4free.com/index.php?dev=Martinic

(Which actually starts to get reminiscent of the Freshies' single "I cant get 'Bouncing Babies' by the Teardrop Explodes")

I bet they'd never get any mainstream radio play, though.

I would suggest this...100%

TX16Wx and I think a great "all-in-one" solution would be the Emax factory library...

it won't give you as great expression as SFZ formats of various instruments out there....but it's a very good library with a great variety of strings and winds.

Here is the most complete known-to-date Emax Factory Library in sf2 format.

Viking VT-1 synth is a uber realistic emulation of a MiniMoog for free.

Full Bucket Music got a handful of free synths emulating old Korg synths

HY Plugins has one called HY Mono emulating an Oberheim SEM

Also check out IK Medias Syntronik they have a free version that comes with a good amount of synth emulations

Also It would help if you were specific in which synth you wanted emulations for because sometimes the emulations aren't so obvious.

And while you're at it just go to vst4free.com

Always great how they compare with really simple sounds, and even those sound pretty different to each other.

i recommend, in no order,
tyrell
synth1
dexed
oatmeal
helm
tunefish
obxd

etc etc etc
or just go to bedroomproducers blog or rekkerd or pluginboutiques free section or use the free u-he synths or
the free tal synths use the "free" u-he and xils demos or tal demos (if u dont mind the pesky noise every 90secs or so). imo those 3 devs are my personal favs.
OR
buy some computer music magazine issues and get very nice bunch of special cm versions of nice synths
like dune cm, curve cm, zebra cm, thorn cm (!!!), bazille cm (!!!), synthmaster cm. xils cm, stix cm, aalto cm, loomer cumulus (!)...
or
if you are a very clever person
use the kvr database via products menu and checkmark "free" ;D
