Can anyone help.

I'm looking for a Chainer replacement, I would have likely bought it but it seems confirmed as partly abandonware, at least as no 64bit.

I don't need complex modular routing, just rack like loading and management of VSTs and VST fx to work in my daw.

I have looked at some other discussions on this here and they seem to have mentioned either very convoluted options OR standalones.

Any thoughts? The simple rack layout is important.
This isn't what you think.

Thanks.

Tried this, crashed quite seriously in my DAW and also overkill for my needs. Really surprised no other developers have jumped on the opportunity here for a simple rack style chainer.

Which DAW? Did you write Blue Cat on their subforum here?

Bluecat Patchwork is great, especially if you use cubase (for using sidechain inputs on vst2 plugins) I could see how it would be a bit much. Bidule is a super nice subhost, but it’s a bit complicated for just setting up chains of plugins. Unfortunately the free fruity loops modular host is crashed on my system so I don’t know what it can reall do. I hear goood things about metaplugin.

If you have issues with Patchwork, Blue Cat has a pretty responsive support setup, and it’s as simple as it gets while still allowing a good bit of flexibility.

I gave this a go. The setup screen showed (choices?) for various things like VST paths. Try as I might due to what seemed like heavy handed filtering, the explorer windows presented to me showed nothing in c:\Program Files except for VSTPlugins. On my PC, that's not where they are. They are in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VSTPlugins.

Subsequently, P2000 showed an empty plugin manager and there is no way to reset the paths inside the installed program that I can see.

To bad, I liked the clean logical UI.

Why is this concept (a stand alone VST/VSTi rack so overthought. It's a simple concept.

Plug and Mix has a cheap chainer.
Kushview Element is a great one updated regularly.
DDMF Metaplugin also I find a bit sluggish.

NewSonicArts' Freestyle has a simple layout... You just literally drag and drop actual pictures of each VST. Works as instrument plugin or effect plugin, but also standalone should you ever need it.

Guess the main thing against it is that it's not the cheapest. I waited for a sale.

Can any of these chainers do feedback loops?
