Hi all.
Does anyone know of a simple free 64bit VST that will use a light to flash the bpm you're playing?

Studio One's metronome has its' clicks, but I'd like to have a light showing BPM when the metronome is turned off.

Thanks
Mike

I once searched for something like this, it seems there are not a lot of choice for a visual metronome VST.

Years ago Xoxos created "Blinker":
https://www.xoxos.net/vst/#Blinker
Unfortunately it seems that the download links are not working on this page, at least not with my system and Firefox.

Here two suggestions:
Most DAWS visually react to midi signals.
In Cubase for example, create a midi track with quarter notes (or whatever).
Set the inspector to midi channel, you will have then a big midi meter reacting at each quarter note.

Or create a midi track with the needed notes.
Route the midi track to a VSTi and insert a VU meter VST in the VSTi track.
Do not route the VSTi to any output, crank up the volume of the VSTi and/or trim the VU meter so that it reacts. Depending on the used VU meter you can get a nice visual metronome.

The downside for boths solutions is that you have to do it for each project.

Thanks Teacue

Apparently 'blinker' is no more. I'm kind of baffled there's not a simple vst for this.

Oh well.... :bang:

Search in Google for 'DMX VST plugin' or 'MIDI to DMX'.

Thanks, but this program is for controlling lightjams.

I just want a metronome to 'flash' a light with the BPM.

There's a thread in Gearslutz about this: www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-musi ... light.html

The consensus seems to be that it's very difficult to keep time to a flashing light. ;-)

There's also a reference in the GS thread to a $54 little gadget called Midihub which includes a MIDI clock generator and powerful blue LED:s that flash on the beat. Not free, and not VST, but perhaps worth checking up?

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

How could I missed this!
In Cubase there is the "Time Display Window".
It is resizeable and can be as big as your whole screen if fou want.
You can set it to "Show Beat Count Only".
You can also set the back- foreground color as well as the transparency.

In Reaper there is the "Big Clock".
It supports images and also animated gif!

Yes this link works, thank you for pointing at it.
But note that Blinker is from 2005 and made with SynthEdit, so not 64-bit version.
