None. Serum is the bestest synth ever, by a long margin, but there was a time before it existed.
Woah there my guy. We are going Waaaay back now. That was like...2014.
And it is yet to be bettered IMO.

Oh in terms of Wavetable synths? Totally agree. The only synth that comes close that I have used is Falcon, If they were to add a serum-esque wavetable editor then now we have a potential true challenger, but even then Flacon has disadvantages, being it has an insanely steep learning curve, geeks like me love it, but someone who wants quick sounds is going to pick Serum's fun and compact drag-n-Drop UI over Falcons clusters any day :hihi: .

Pigments might present a challange eventually too, it certainly is promising and Fun to use, and Colorful, but as far as complexity, everyone still trails Serum.

There really isn't one plugin I absolutely can't live without. I was going to say this:- my goto plugin, for the moment at least, is the bx_console SSL 4000 E which is closely followed by the Roland TB-303 and D16 Sigmund delay. And the Roland TR-808. But then I realised, my goto plugin is something very boring that I use all the time without really thinking about it:- iZotope Tonal Balance Control. It's almost always in view and really useful as a guide to how my mix is shaping up.

Probably some kind of drum sampler as I don't own a drum kit right now.

might be a bit late but I just wanted to say that TAL Flanger is (by far) my most used plugin.

Pretty effective as a metallic effect and it's free, and it's better than the stock flanger in any of the DAWs I've used
one day I was walking on the street and someone saw me, he said "hey man" and I don't remember why I'm telling you this.

There's this black market Chinese/Russian plugin known as "Dashniev Chansky." I was "fortunate" enough to find it for sale in a back alley, guy let it go for a song, really had no idea what he was in possession of. That night, when I jacked in via the sim-stim port behind my left ear, the whole universe opened up like a flower. But now I can do nothing else. My addiction to simulated Transcendence has left me too weak to even venture outdoors.

Truly, this is the one plugin I can't live without.
A well-behaved signature.

Curious as to what you use this for? I'm guessing you almost have to be a guitar player because guitars and drums are the only 2 things I can find a steady spot for the regular free waveshaper let alone a MB version.

i produce dubstep/dnb/hardtekno, i mainly use it as saturator, compressor, distortion on bass synth. (sometime on a kick or a snare.)

today the trend is on OTT but you can get extrem upward compression with waveshaping, you can also get gentle saturation or crazy harmonics exciter...

the standard settings for multiband is heavy compression on bass, saturation on mid and harmonics exciter on high.

Years of meditation have hardened my skin to the point I cannot for the life of me find a spot to inject Dashniev Chansky into my workflow - this virtual studio transcendence thing is wearing me out, my PC sprouted flowers when I installed it and now I can't find it in the long, long grass. So I find myself reduced to pen and paper sequencing, my fountain pen being the one plugin I cannot live without.
