Your experience with guitar VSTis for hard rock and metal

Hey guys,
I'm a guitar player and been playing around with my first guitar VSTis, Shreddage 2 and 3 SRP/Serpent. I was hoping they would cover all my needs, but you know how it goes. The thing that the SRP samples lack the most is on light palm muting. Otherwise it's a fine instrument; the S3 engine is complicated to understand but quite capable and once you set it, you can forget it.
EDIT: Mostly, I want to do metal riffs, hard rock rhythms, some melodies and embellishments, but no fast solos.
So, Electri6ity caught my eye, what's your experience? The VSTi is quite old, but the interface doesn't look dated to me. What's very hard to judge from YouTube videos is the quality of the samples, does it sound pretty good to you? I like it that it includes quite a few guitar models, but the price tag is high and I don't want to make a $400 mistake.
I've heard good things about Prominy's V-Metal, but is it relatively flexible? Or is it mostly heavy metal?
What about the Odin Deluxe? The swift mode sounds great for focusing on composing, but I also wonder about soft palm mutes and its performance in a hard rock context (as opposed to djenting all the time).
Otherwise, what's your favorite electric guitar VST for rock and what do you like about it?

I'm very happy with RealGuitar, though I haven't used many others. I was happy with the palm mutes of realguitar LPC.

This is old, but it was done with Orange Tree Samples Evolution Electric Guitar. I hardly ever used it though I think it's an excellent piece of software. Bass is just standard Kontakt bass from memory.

This has got a little bit of 6 string djent, but also some lead which I found easier to pull off in Evolution that I did with Shreddage 2 for whatever reason.

There is this but honestly (as a non-guitarist) I still found the sample VST route unsatisfying. I figured to get a good result, you pretty well need to know how to play the real thing anyway which sort of defeats the purpose. Probably with time...

AAS Strum GS-2. It sounds fine to me but I'm not a guitar sound purist. I really like that since it's physically modeled instead of sample based it has a small footprint and the patches load really fast.

Thanks. I really like the record still but I will say it was a crushing disappointment how poorly it was received. And by received I mean thrown out of the room as fast as they could. Metal bands I had helped only a few weeks before wouldn't give me a moment's help in return. It was a massive turnaround from when I did the same thing 25 years earlier where most of the Metal people were at least interested or delighted that I was working in their space with respect. This time I was accused of not being Metal which was super hurtful from one Metal fan (and I question that) to another.

I say this simply because you will need a big set of balls if you decide to take this route. If you do, I'm delighted to help or at least hear it.

If you're a guitar player, wouldn't it be better to look at amp sims rather than software that emulates guitars? There's no learning curve with the playing if you can use a guitar.

Sadly no it was more like a list of all the reasons why I didn't have the right and how I was clearly mistaken as my garbage was another genre entirely. It is sad indeed when fans of a genre don't even have the ability to recognize the core traits of their genre if not played on exactly the same instruments using the same tone etc. That to me makes their crap False Metal
