Hello all. In the grand old tradition of running public betas, early access to version 3.1 is now available.

Most notable feature updates are:
  • Native FLAC streaming
  • Native OGG streaming
  • Offline activation support
  • Per-region sound overrides
  • Filter frequency modulation now in cents (pitch)
  • Very much improved import from other formats
Beneath the hood there are a number of changes, mainly to take advantage of new compiler features and produce a more stable, faster sampler. (Famous last words). In general, FFT-heavy code like the pitch/timeshift engine should be slightly faster.

For those who want to try the offline activation support, the URL to upload/download activation files is available at: https://www.tx16wx.com/offline-activation (not public yet).

If you find issues, please let me know. The builds will be updated periodically. (check the dates).

Happy sampling
/C

Cool! Thank you! Could you tell me more about the offline activation support? Is this going back to a keyfile and getting rid of challenge/response (I hope)? :-)
C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. Limit to # of auths. Instability-ie PACE. Forced internet auths. THE HONEST ARE HASSLED, NOT THE PIRATES.

Yes and no. It is still C/R + machine locked licence, but it is "manual" licence server connect. Basically you save an activation request from TX16Wx on the machine you want to run it on (presumably without internet access), move it to a networked machine, and upload it to a web form. You get back an activation response, which can be loaded into TX again, and acts as the "normal" C/R response.

Thanks! I have a "Bad request" error while trying to download the beta for win64

@lalo - some sort of gdrive f**kery. I've made direct links available as a temporary workaround.

OK, that makes sense. Thank you! :-)

New build is up. One fairly big change:
Per-region sound parameter offsets.

You can now select one or more regions and while holding ALT adjust various scalar sound shape parameters (AEG, filter cutoff/res, ENV/LFO values etc) to generate an offset "override" for that particular region set.

For example, set filter 1 to lowpas w. cutoff at 4000Hz. Now, with one region selected, hold ALT and adjust the filter cutoff to be 1000Hz higher. The region filter cutoff will now be always 1000Hz higher relative the sound shape base parameter, even when automated/modulated.

This is useful to make "smaller" adjustment to some regions in a mapping without having to create a new group + sound. It also makes import of SF2/SFZ and other formats create slightly nicer/cleaner programs.

There are two new sections in the manual on this, in the region mapper chapter and the sound parameter chapter.

Try it out, let me know how it plays.

Hi, I just tried 3.1 (July 9), and after rescanning my plugins, I am unable to instantiate TX16Wx.

Reaper 5.980 - neither VST2i nor VST3i TX16Wx appear in the plugin list any more.

Ableton Live 10.1 - VST2i appears in plugin list, but double-clicking does nothing; VST3i not present.
Win10 x64

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling TX16Wx 3.1 and removing my settings.ini -- neither had an effect.

Uhm, July 9 is quite along time ago. Did you try yesterdays build? Please include the exact version (right-click DLL/installer -> Details) when reporting issues.

Oh, I see. It's the version that is labeled July 9 here as of today, July 26:

So that is 3.100.5319.1210

Yeah, sorry, don't trust the website dates for beta. I only update the google drive binaries. I am lazy. I will try to figure out what might be broken.

Problem found. Build tools that conspire against me it seems. Will get it fixed asap.

elcallio: Not sure if this is the right place for a feature request but would there be any way of allowing the user to specify a default setting for the GUI size and the layout (e.g. the ARP/Groups/Regions/Waves/Matrices/Sounds buttons)? Every time I load an instance I always set the GUI to the middle size option, and have the regions turned on (to access the virtual on-screen keyboard) but it would be nice to have it load up like that rather than having to set it every time.

Post

That is an interesting feature, though not sure how to express it in the UI. Also, since the TX16Wx layout is content-driven, you would only really get the example you make by having "auto create content" on. And similar. I will look at it.
