Why so little respect for the synthetic "instruments" we're creating?

BONES wrote: Thu Jul 11, 2019 11:27 am No, that's not what I said at all. I said "A bit like The Doors, who only became really popular decades after Morrison died." I then used an example of a Doors song that was no. 1 in the US and failed to chart at all in Australia. I'd heard Riders on the Storm and Love Her Madly enough to remember them but that's about it. Then, 20 years later, The Doors music is on the radio very regularly and I hear a lot of their songs I'd never heard before, Light My Fire being the really obvious example, as it was a song I had heard many times as a child but never sung by Jim Morrison. But I'm sure that growing up on the exact opposite side of the planet gave you far greater insight into what was being played on the radio in Sydney than me actually hearing what was being played on the radio.
What i said about The Doors was because you seemed to indicate that they were an unimportant band but became popular after JM died. Sorry if i misunderstood that.

Fact is that they were already called the "most influencal" Rock band in 1970. They toured around the world (JM died in Paris) because they were already big. JM was on the cover of every magazine in the States when he lived. They were a big thing back then, selling millions of albums and singles.

It's true, there was a revival (and bigger worldwide acceptance) of their music years later. "The End" in "Apocalypse Now" boosted it, but also and especially the Doors movie. And i don't think they were as popular in other countries as they were in the US back then. But still my older sisters had posters of JM and The Doors in their rooms, next to their CCR and Rolling Stones posters, in the early 70's, here in Holland. That's how "mainstream" they already were back then.

But i know, in Australia everything always happens a few years later :)
More BPM please

Hehe. Exactly.

Big eyes and crying won't work either.
