I'm looking for whether it be a sound library or vst (Mac compatible) instrument that has lots of percussive sounds. I'm not looking for snares and kicks. I'm looking for just percussive sounds that accentuate the main beat, that'll be in the background. Any ideas?

Thanks! Just out of curiosity are there any instruments that do this as well? I'm still a newbie but it seems like Chromaphone 2 and Spark 2 may be something similar to what I'm looking for?

If you are looking for loops without kicks and snares, the MyLoops Solid Drum series is good:

I also like the Resonance Sound Kick Free Revolution series

There was one more developer who had a lot of this stuff but I can't remember his name and he went out of business anyway.

Yeah they're both good for creating percussive sounds especially Chromaphone. Really any synth can get you there if you know what you're doing. But synthesizing percussion from scratch is one of the harder things to do well, especially for a newbie, I'd suggest grabbing a sampler and just layering samples.
I'm always on the hunt for unique percussion too and alot of the time I have Audacity open to record stuff that catches my ear on Youtube or whatever i'm streaming, and then I run the chopped audio thru a gamut of Air Window plugins, delays and reverbs, and other processors, then layer them until I get something I've never heard before. Simple things like changing the pitch and speed then using a transient shaper, compressor, and filter/eq with resonance can do wonders. I
especially love Melda's free bundle for those task.

Also Loopcloud 4 is free, and amazing to use for finding sounds and then even isolating or manipulating them.

I like foley sounds as percussive elements. Glitchmachines has 3 really good sample packs for this sort of thing: Metaphor, Idiom, and Dialect.

Maybe use a FM or Physical Modelling synth to create your own unique percussion sounds?

Have you considered applying a distortion/filter plugin to more normal percussion sounds? Something like iZotope Trash will give you some really weird sounding stuff.

-Find samples from various TR series drum machines. Been used for decades. Load em into your DAW’s sampler. Change them and process them to suit your needs

-Make them in a synth. Bit harder but possible.

-Get a field recorder and record bunch of different sounds. Load em into DAW’s sampler. Change them and process them to suit your needs. This is my personal favorite and might be what you are looking for. You can smack your door, record it, and use it as a percussive sound. You can get a spoon and smack your midi keyboard and use it as a percussive sound. You can....you get the point. Never been a fan of using samples beyond TR drum machines so make everything with my trusty field recorder. It’s fun and unique.

Maybe StiX ? Stix can produce a large variety of percussion sounds, and maybe more interesting, you can transform and make them live/breathe in an organic way very easily. You can also feed StiX with your own samples as parts of the global synthesis engine(s) btw.

This should be free.

This one's on sale for about $6. I bought one of their big bundles in the past on sale and it was a good value.
