Also selling Keith McMillen Instruments QuNeo, in decent shape (aside from the dust flawless for all I can tell). Asking 130€ + shipping. Prefer to ship within EU only but might make an exception.

I'm also trying to get rid of Access Virus TI Desktop (not TI2). The backlight on the LCD is dead and I disassembled the unit to see if I could fix it, and now the LCD itself doesn't function properly. The unit turns on and seems to do its thing, blinking lights and all, but I didn't test with sound. I'm going to attempt to fix the LCD but will sell the unit regardless of the outcome - either "broken" or "imperfect". It's a nice synth, with its only flaw being that it's too physical - I'm done with external sound-generation boxes. If somebody is interested, now is the time to speak! Shipping preferably within EU only.

The Virus is currently reserved for DjRubble.

Good questions.

I was thinking something like:
  • 500€ for an otherwise fully functioning unit with a broken LCD
  • 650€ for an otherwise fully functioning unit with a broken LCD backlight
  • 700€ for a fully functioning unit
I'll of course test all basic functionality prior to selling the unit. In any of the above conditions it would be usable via USB or MIDI.

LCD replacements could be found on eBay for about 60€ when I last checked a year ago. Now I can't seem to find them, but there are some custom replacements for 100€.

If the unit is in any other way (in addition to the LCD) dysfunctional, I'll stash it in one of my drawers to wait for the day I'll have the motivation and time to inspect it carefully. :-p

Other things to consider:
  • The wooden decoratory end pieces are missing. Replacements are easy to find on eBay. Rack ears are included however.
  • EU DC power supply (wall brick); 230VAC @ 50Hz in, 12VDC*1A out.
  • If you plug the power supply to the wall first, and then to the Virus, it (the contact between the PS connector and Virus) shoots sparks! I don't know what the hell that is all about, but it doesn't seem to have had any other effect on anything except freaking me out.
Should be easy to find a decent power brick replacement with matching specs or adjustable output voltage.

Ok well put it like this, I am in the market to potentially take this off you, but for a start I would need to save up a bit of cash, and/or sell some plugins to recoup the hundreds already spent in the sales this summer.

Next thing would be down to you to figure out how broken it is (tbh if it takes orders from the software, produces PHAT BASS and the twiddly knobs work, I could give 2 sheets about the LCD display really, I would mainly be using it solely for sound design, and getting it at the lower price you have given would be more inline with me actually affording it anytime soon)

Once you had figured out where it stands in the what's working department re: the lcd and backlight stuff, next I would like to maybe have a bit of a video chat with you at a time that suits us both where you have it plugged in and can just go over some bits, show me it working as best it can, as if I was to buy it from you in person as I couldn't put money in an account without seeing it in action and knowing its not just a video uploaded where it "worked when I filmed it" scenario

Finally we would have to work out a payment scheme, something like I pay a slightly larger chunk of the overall amount or something for it to get sent, then once I had it and can plug it in, confirm it is in some form of working (making nasty noises) condition finalise the payment (if that was not something you would be prepared to do, we would have to figure something out, just to make sure we are both covered as its a lot of money for me to spend and for you to worry about receiving using my suggestion)

Im open to discuss and agree various elements I have proposed here, but the core thing would be me needing time to save a bit of cash, if I cannot sell enough plugins to be able to afford it sooner

interested on your thoughts with what iv said <3

Alright, so...

Regarding the condition of the unit; I don't like to sell anything that I don't have a strong feeling/understanding of regarding its condition. If I do decide to sell something whose condition is indefinite to an extent that the range of possible proper valuations from the worst case to the best is broad enough for the purchase to potentially cause great grief to either me (underpriced) or the buyer (overpriced), I go for underpriced because the one thing I hate more than giving someone too good a deal is prolonged post-trade dialogue involving troubleshooting, negotiating adjustments to the deal, at worst refunding money I already spent, and generally having to talk at length with a person with whom I'd rather not spend five seconds chatting in queue at the grocery store. So I'd rather chop the extra chunk off the price and sell in condition "as is", i.e. you get exactly what it says, dirt cheap, with no right to return.

I don't want to sell my stuff dirt cheap, so I practically never opt to do that. I always try to be thorough, because really I just want the money and not an extended human relations experience with negative undertones. Positive feedback is capital to me because it makes getting money easier, so accumulating it is important to me.

Re: time: The Virus is laying down on my desk right now, but if you could give me a realistic time frame for when you might be able to buy it, it could give me motivation to attempt the repair. Also, depending on the time frame I might be willing to reserve the unit for you, since you were the first to express interest. But not indefinitely.

Re: condition: I'm going to try to get the LCD in working order in any case, and I'm fairly certain I can at least get the dot matrix in the LCD in working order again simply by reassembling it properly (possibly with a bit of anisotropic tape), and if so, a backlight replacement shouldn't be difficult to hack in. But there's always room for some unexpected, creative destruction in these projects. I will document all the repairs/modifications in detail (with pictures) and do some basic metering so that the next owner will know what's inside.

Re: pricing: I'm ready to negotiate the price or arrangement, except that I will only accept full sum, in advance. If you want security (it's a lot of money to me too!) we can do it by the book over eBay, with time-limited right to return (implicating refund) with the buyer paying shipping in both directions. Because I know what I'll be packaging will be exactly what is said, and I always pack shipments with great care, I'm confident that the buyer will receive exactly what he bought. I don't want to spend a dime - on top of the time wasted on packaging, shipping & formalities - on somebody's mood swings, so I do like to make unwarranted returns uneconomical for them. :-)

Re: video chat: I don't think I have a device which would enable me to do video chats, and if I did I'd still prefer not to. ;-) But I'll certainly do pictures or offline videos by request, at the very least. But not before I've done/screwed the repairs so that I can show exactly what is for sale.

im with you and understand your sentiments on my suggestions (you seem as reasonable as id like to think I am) and I totally understand the view on the payment scenario also, time frame wise I would be looking at around a month give or take a week, which could be significantly quicker provided I either manage to sell one or two of my more expensive plugins, or my other less powerful MacBook which I have had for sale on a couple of sites for a little while now. I too am trying to avoid just selling the Mac or any high end plugins for silly cheap as they are all fairly new to me and the Mac itself is in top condition with fairly good specs, just is an older model pre 2013 (because I like having a decent amount of I/O interfaces on my "premium"devices lol

I will begin to seriously scour through my plugin collections and add everything in to my thread (sadly I have no seller feedback here yet and a fairly fresh account so it may take longer than id like to sell some bits) and also I shall take my MBP to some shops to hunt a good cash in price while I try to bump it on other online places I have it up for sale.

During that time I will be earning money separately by more common traditional means anyway so like I say would be looking within a month or 6 weeks tops to have the money even if I did not manage to sell ANYTHING I have available.

anyway its very late so ill leave you with this post for now and see how you feel about it all tomorrow.

Ill PM you sometime in the afternoon once I am less busy tomorrow.

PS in all honesty, regarding the LCD side of things, if the unit functions well enough but I just cant see some info on the unit that is otherwise visible in the software, it not being fixed is really not a bother to me, and would just add costs in to the fray for me and you that would prolong the time I need to sell/save the extra cash. Just something worth bearing in mind.

any who will talk with you more privately tomorrow sometime to discuss finer points about it all.

Thanks :)
