very, very nice...great guitar theme, the mix builds a dense atmosphere, also good mastering. Big Up

Nice brooding build-up. Reminds me of the layering/building in John Murphy's - In The House, In A Heartbeat ('28 Days Later' Soundtrack), albeit not quite as dark.
Mix-wise, for my tastes, it's way too dark. While listening I ended up adding some highs and a bit of that ever-elusive 'Air', and it helped certain elements 'sing' and separate away from the overall dirge ("Dirge", meant to be taken in the positive, of course )

Listening over my speakers, the mix definitely sounds clearer. It's normally the reverse. I hop that does not signal the end of my cans

Why thank you sir, glad you like it Unfortunately I can't really play (not that good anyhow), but my brother in-law can . I have a friend who plays drums and wanted to throw some on but he's not set up yet

Just seen your second comment but to be fair my monitors are Samson and my cans are too (mainly mix in cans, neighbours are psychos ). they are quite "high endy" anyway so my mixes tend to lack there sometimes because they always sound fine. Anyway, I added a bit of high / "air" and will re-up. Maybe it sounds better (or your cans are )

i think sometimes with a more dense mix, your ears don't process it the same.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 7:48 pm Listening over my speakers, the mix definitely sounds clearer. It's normally the reverse. I hop that does not signal the end of my cans
you are in effect removing some of the space, im not a fan of cans for listening or mixing (unless your neighbours are the psychos, and not you ) for this reason, because i like to go dense, on cans it gets too claustrophobic at times.

Woah, really nice soundtrack, nice mix too. If I had to make a criticism it'd be that I felt like there could have been a few little percussive flourishes/fills here and there, but then that might have created the expectation that something new would come immediately after, when the track was meant to be a slow build up. Anyway, a quality piece of work

I get it. I used to mix in some pretty expensive Grado's, which are known for having quite an aggressive mid/upper-mid sound. If I wore then for any length of time, the resulting listening-fatigue made me lose all sense of perspective Glad I got rid of them!jethrobull wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 8:06 pmThank you for listening and the constructive feedback, much appreciatedel-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 7:48 pm Listening over my speakers, the mix definitely sounds clearer. My monitors, while having quite a clean sound, have zero representation in much under 80hz. Add to that a 'bad' room, and having a proper c**t of a house-mate in the adjoining room, and I tend towards using cans. Sometimes I like that claustrophobia, but I would prefer open-bak. Unfortunately, there is so much noise-pollution where I live that I'd have to turn them up too loud to actually hear anything.vurt wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 8:17 pmi think sometimes with a more dense mix, your ears don't process it the same.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 7:48 pm Listening over my speakers, the mix definitely sounds clearer. Lovely guitar at the start, had me sold immediately. The track builds up nicely as it runs its course and seems to go through a few different moods.
Voted KVR's resident drunk Robert Smith impersonator (thanks Frantz!)

Nice to see a lot of comments for this after just a day. Well deserved. Anyway, love the intro. Nice build, if a little slow. Still kept my interest. That snare sounds cool. What kind? Doesn't sound like one I have in my collection anywhere. Mix is great. Arrangement is great. Nice strings. All in all, very well done. Nothing to criticize here. Any plans for the track or just doing this for fun?
