Hi! =)

It is obvious that we should rely more on our ears than on our eyes to get a mixing job done. However, I really like the idea of double checking every step of my workflow with my eyes. It is really easy to take a wrong road while mixing and relying on meters help me a lot to keep going in the right direction.

Among other techniques, I can list the following:
a) using a spectrum analyzer to make sure that I dont have any unwanted frequency bumps happening on individual tracks and on the master output;
b) using a oscilloscope to visualize the compression effects over the waveform;
c) using a loudness meter to get a rough mix based on the analysis of several multi-track sessions and to get a proper balance between kick and bass.

That said, I'd like to ask if you use any visual mixing techniques that you could share with us.

Thank you all!

Don't do it!

In my experience, psilocybin or lysergic acid diethylamide can help with seeing sound, tasting colors, etc.

I'm a professional and you can't deny it. If you do, you either were tricked by the League, or you are from the League.
