Why hasn't anyone been able to create what the SY300 does by Boss? What is the technical explanation and latency issues? (For vst)

I stumbled upon this one probably 4-5 years ago (right before I ultimately decided to learn the piano/keyboard altogether for further reasons) because as a guitar only player I was starting to get deeply fascinated by synth/keys/piano sounds, and all the possibilities of midi.

It was on an early stage maybe even beta, I only demoed it at the time (then as I said above, just went all-in and bought a midi keyboard) and the pitch tracking was quite good and responsive actually. I'd have to guess it could have only improved in the meantime with version 2.

It simply turns guitar into midi, which you can feed to any high quality vst synth... and I think that is much better than a pitch tracking device/plugin which forces you to use an hypotetical included subpar synthesis engine.

Yep. Jamorigin actually tracks better than my old Roland MIDI pickup hardware system. Very cool stuff. Check out this video:

If you're a plugin dev why would you develop a competent synth that needs to sell to everyone and then add the complication of pitch tracking specifically for guitars when so few guitar players would actually use that given guitar-to-MIDI exists? It's not that it's hard or impossible, it's a terrible business decision.

Wasn't asking about bad business decisions. I get what you say but Boss did fine from it I would say. I guess I just need get one.

EHX still makes organ synth pedals, makes sense, since it's a relatively popular sound and easy to synthesize. Only pedal that survives, I think, following Red Witch and Earthquaker's forays.

Pedals and VSTs are two different roles though.

Reatune in Reaper does a nice job of converting audio to MIDI. Have a look at this video...

I've been trying to make such a plug for the last couple of years.

Also a guy called Fretted Synth makes/made such plugs

I'd love any feedback(8D) on my plug's performance. I know it needs to be better sounding,
in one respect the simple synth, but also the tracking performance
