I also wanted to say thanks for the videos. I got the Captain Plugins earlier in the year and recently updated them to the latest version. Been playing around with them a bit, still mainly scratching the surface I think, but your videos have given me a lot of ideas for diving in deeper...

Riffer on sale -35% or 35.95.
https://www.producerspot.com/audiomodern-riffer
Looks interesting!
Need opinions.

My notes to myself:
Architect $140 viewtopic.php?f=141&t=517104
get Architect not Riffer.
Perhaps something similar in the Reason 11 Players?
Riffer for iPad about $6.99. Consider the iPad version?
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/riffer/ ... tform=ipad

Interesting Riffer thread
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2065591
lunker stated “Riffer didn't seem to provide anything other than what MIDI Madness and Ex Machina already do so well for me.”

That's crazy. As I was watching - and I'm pretty much sold on it, I couldn't help but think that composing beautiful melodies is now as easy as throwing paint onto a canvas. On the one hand, it's so cheating, and on the other hand, why not?

Post

Trying to compile a list.
Contribute if you can.

Plugins with a lot of midi capability such as editing and fx and such. Modular and whatever.
Reaktor has some midi modules
Architect in beta already has a lot of midi features. viewtopic.php?f=141&t=517474&start=1200
Reason 11 Rack has many midi modules (Players) and will be useful in non-Reason DAW’s once it features a midi output.
HomeGrown Audio. Andy said he will develop midi plugins as part of his next Group Buy. https://hgsounds.com/
Usine Hollyhock 3 http://www.sensomusic.org/ Sadly not a VST, only stand-alone.

Old
Temper now free and 32 bit only http://www.angryredplanet.com/temper/
Infinity never worked right. https://squest.com/Products/Infinity/In ... fects.html

Post

I was wondering if anyone has looked at Usine Hollyhock 3 for its midi features.
http://www.sensomusic.org/
Not a plugin in version 3 but v4 which is to be released likely late this year may be both a stand-alone and a VST. I’m not holding my breath. It can however host VST and AU.
Some info on HH v4
https://www.facebook.com/pg/sensomusicu ... e_internal

Here is the midi list:
http://www.sensomusic.org/addons.php and search for midi
http://www.sensomusic.org/manual/en/modules/midi
So HH has some midi fx and utilities.

PS: HH is multi-touch capable!

Breaking News
Hollyhock 4 has been released
http://www.brainmodular.com/
Unfortunately still only runs as a stand-alone and not as a VST.
Too bad as I am already committed to Studio One and if not there is Cubase and Reaper.
Too bad also as it has some nice features.

Post

How about Arpado
https://arpado.site/index.html#section-features
older videos
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Arpado+
Midi arp and more
standalone but may be VSTi on next update?
Multitouch capable?
now 25% off

Comment please.

Captain plugs go on sale ever?

I just checked out David's video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RErvIvZ ... e=youtu.be
And now would like to know the answer to your question.

My feeling is that there will be a Black Friday sale.

Post

Ok, it’s November so thought this may be helpful roundup of mostly all of the things talked about in this post for people doing Black Friday or who read this in the future. I did this all by hand from reading the post and I also added a bunch of stuff from my own lists that I think are relevant.
Some of these are name only, to me, as I have not tried them personally, but have just read them in this post. So I may have made some typos or errors on names of products here or there (I don’t know). If you find errors please feel free to correct me and I will update my post (I mean no disrespect whatsoever to devs reading either on my opinions if I didn’t pick your product, it’s prob cause I haven’t tried it, I’d encourage everyone to try out these on their own to find what they like don’t just take my word for it-but all I can say is I can vouch for my picks because I know they are really good because I have used them personally). And please everyone keep adding to my list if you have more I’d be interested to know as well, so onto the midi and audio mangling goodness,
[ before looking at my list you may want to check this out, it is a real thorough search on KVR for windows/Mac/IOS plugins that someone posted (this has even more things then all the lists below) - you can further adjust it to what your interested in and resubmit the search to find what you’re after, here’s the link: https://www.kvraudio.com/plugins/window ... sor/newest ]

At a glance, here are my top picks for various tools, but please take this with a grain of salt because I have not tried all the tools noted in this forum post yet, so that may be why I didn’t pick them as my favorite below:

-My picks for AI music software-

AI software for music:
Most notable AI music programs right now, in my opinion:

Programs & products that have built in music theory midi tools:
-komplete keyboards, ableton push, maschine, etc.
-Daws (most daws have At least some midi tools: (Cubase, Logic, ableton, FL, Reaper, Reason, Etc.)
-synthesizers and samplers often have various midi capabilities (ranging from simple to complex) & also audio “mangling abilities”, although some synths are not offered as fx plugins or do not have audio input options, while other synths do offer this. The various ways to connect hardware and software synths, and other tools to interface with each other for various effects is basically infinite, but good to remember that there are things like this that you can do with stuff you probably already have, if you are creative with how you use it.

Pitch detection:
-Melodyne

-variaudio (cubase)

More IOS music APPs (I think most are on both
iPhone and iPad, but not
exactly sure, just check the
App Store):
Arp
Xynthesizr
Gestrument
Dedalus
Thumbjam

Hope that helps in organizing this post a little bit more so it’s digestible. Maybe one day KVR will have an organizing AI bot so won’t have to do this by hand-it will find all the keywords and phrases and organize them into a list with all relevant data-yes that will be the day eh.

Also be interested to hear more from others on stuff not included on this list and your favorites that you have used both now and if stuff comes out in the future and you try it.

————————————————————————————OT?
Other stuff that I am not sure if fits this post, may be somewhat off topic because it’s not always midi stuff per se, so you can skip these if you want:

Apps -
Not sure if these Apps all fit the criteria Of what people are looking for in this post, but I’ll include some as they maybe will have some features that may interest people in this thread:

Glitch/Mangling audio fx:
Looperator
Movement by output
Effectrix
Glitch2
Trash2 (and a ridiculous amount of other distortions - E.g. ohmicide, elektron analog heat, decapitator, etc. digital & analog - for “sonic” mangling)
-NI Freak, phasis, flair, dirt, bite, driver, Reaktor VHS (free ensemble)
-chipcrusher2
-RC 20 retro color
-waves j37, Kramer tape
-izotope vinyl
-shaperbox 2, pancake 2, halftime
-loopmash fx (cubase)
-lfotool (Xfer) *this has midi functions for sure
-transient master
-ozone 9 master rebalance
-hybridtwo project chaos (amazing loop creator)
-if you use 8dio instruments that have cool chaos functions with fxs processing that really can mangle the audio

(*honestly you can mangle audio w/tools like eq, compression, reverb, and all other fxs, but they are not the first thing you think of for that specific task so I will leave those out)

-My picks for Glitch/audio mangling-
Looperator
Movement by output
Trash2 (and a ridiculous amount of other distortions e.g. ohmicide, elektron analog heat, decapitator, etc. - digital & analog - for “sonic” mangling)
-NI Freak, phasis, flair, dirt, bite, driver, Reaktor VHS (free ensemble)
-RC 20 retro color
-waves j37, Kramer tape
-shaperbox 2, pancake 2, halftime
-project chaos by HybridTwo

These are programs that use AI for various purposes:
Pandora
Shazam
Spotify (flow machines - Francios Pachet)
Apple Music (I think apple must be using AI?)
Facebook/Instagram
Twitter
(Other socials...)
Muzeek
Brain.FM
etc...

Also check out the AI mixing and mastering fxs - from izotope: Ozone & Nuetron &
search on YouTube for AI music discussion by Daniel James on his channel and Troels from 8Dio on the 8Dio channel, you can also watch ted talks by the developers of AIVA & Amper music which are highly interesting! Andrew Huang has also posted a video showing the audio synthesis of magneta (I think it was this one...), where the audio is synthesized together from different sounds to create a new form of AI synthesis). The developer of ”flow machines” also has a Ted talk you can check out. Anyways, AI is highly relevant to this post and conversation especially going into the future I believe.

Post

wow. !!

QUITE a list, thank you! Lots I haven't heard of before…

I think any purely AUDIO manglers (eg Trash, AFAIK, and many others in your category "Glitch/Mangling") are a bit OT for this thread, but if clearly identified as such, I'm happy to see them. The problem comes when you go looking for MIDI features that aren't there and wind up thinking it must be because you didn't look hard enough!:) Eg., I'm back looking for any MIDI out from Aparillo now that I've seen it in your list as well as in a previous post here, despite having already confirmed that there aren't any for myself back then! But, jeez, DID I miss 'em???

Post

Wow treesineden, what a starting post :)

Absolutely great, I thought I know most of the stuff in this area but would have never been able to put it in such an amazing and useful list :o

This is really helpful !

Post

treesinedenn,

My list of thing to do got seriously longer.
Thanks!
No, I really mean thanks.

then feed the accompaniment as the source.

Hope he makes an app that uses chords.
