But the demo has to have a restriction, right? So, it is either time limit but fully functional or sound limitation with noise!
Yes, there are some like NI demos, but the demo also has limitation and still people regret buying some NI synths then sell it in the 2nd hand market, right?

The solution for me, is just to be decisive! Just decide within the limitations if I want this or not! Although I took ages to decide either to upgrade to Dune 3 or not from Dune 2, but I didn't care too much about it and it wasn't a priority. I didn't really asked for extension for the demo when the time finished! It is just happened that when I decided to upgrade, the demo was updated and reset, so I took another few days to demo it and see if it can work under Wine in Linux.

Regarding the Legend, it was bought from the first 10~30 mins I demoed it! It sounds great and I used it in One Synth Challenge two years ago I think. It is a great synth really and a "keeper". Never thought to sell it and never will ;)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Only you can answer that question. Try the Legend demo.

I can recommend The Legend since it's an awesome synth but I can't tell you if you still need it if you have those other options available.

But not better sound.

Yes, you need it. Consider purchasing it here, then you can save the world at the same time, fellow consumerist. Make sure also to post about your purchase on Facebook and other social media, so that other fellow consumerists can save the world too. :tu:

Yeah, i would say that the Arturia one is the worst option of the ones mentioned. It's been a while since i demo'd Legend, but, Diva and Monark are about the same ballpark. While Monark tends to distort/saturate quite a bit, Diva is a more "behaved" model, and, there are minor differences in how the filter and envelopes behave as well. You can get extremely close between those 2 though. Diva's filter resonance range is quite different to Monark's, same with the envelope stages. Needs adjustment, to make them sound very similar, but, it's possible. FWIW. Only interesting if you A/B compare them.

You're pretty well geared up already. The Legend is a very good synth, but so are Monark and Diva. It will give you something similar to Monark, only that it's polyphonic and it has Unison... And it's possibly the best of its class (but Monark is quite close)

The Legend could be a "Monark killer", but how important is such sound for you to pay for?

Just my opinion, i don't want to start a big discussion with the fans here, but... Legend isn't a Monark killer to me. Just like Monark isn't a Diva killer to me (even though i DO think that it's a bit closer to what i heard from Minimoogs so far).

Personally, the Legend is my favourite synth emulation (together with RePro). I have Diva and Monark but I use the Legend more if I want minimoog emulation. It is also a pleasure to look at and easy enough to program. It has the best presets IMO than any other minimoog emulation. Buy it if you have the money you won't regret it. There are two in the charity I think, but even with full price, it is a bargain IMO :)

I think The Legend is the best sounding Moog emulation. I also have Monark (never use it anymore with The Legend and an SE-02), and Diva (which is SO much more, but just happens to do a reasonable Moog emulation). Arturia, to me, is the worst emulation - which doesn't mean it's bad in any way, just not as accurate sounding - though it gets points for usability.

For those that haven't looked in the last year, The Legend does 4 and 8 voice polyphony now, as well, if you have an AVX-capable computer.

If you have Monark, you definitely don't need another Moog emulation. Wanting, though, that's something else.... :D I guess I have 4 synths, total, capable of emulating a Moog Model D to varying degrees.

EDIT: Make that 5, since I have the iOS Moog Model D synth, as well! I'd sell Monark if I could, but it's part of the Komplete package. There's no way I'd ever sell the rest of 'em.

If you only want that sound, there are probably more synths that can do it, although they don't look anything like the Moog in terms of GUI and are not meant to emulate Moog sounds.

Yeah you never "need" another moog when you have some moogish synths already. That's partly why I wasn't jumping on it. Aside from Monark, I can get very minimoogish sounds from Poly-Ana and Omnisphere/Trilian (better with The Drop after it), even Cypher sometimes.

Monark is cool but the overdrive/feedback is really weird and to me doesn't really sound analog. Legend is more subtle but is very realistic. Also pretty light on the cpu magically! And while Reaktor doesn't bother too much, having a simple vintage style synth in it's own VST is for me a big benefit because I can use novation automap. Diva certainly has some tricks like filter fm, duophonic, waveshape morphing etc. I find Diva a bit dark but it's awesome for darker sounds for sure. Been on the cusp of re-buying that one for a while.
