Not sure really where one puts this question but I want to take a recording of an animated spoken word radio announcer's voice and make it flat, monotone and uninteresting. I have tried a number of fx but they have fairly terrible artefacts. eg Pitchmap from Zynnaptiq fails on this task whereas it is fine on instruments like violins. Melodyne is a bit artificial sounding tho better than Pitchmap. I haven't figured out a fast workflow for meldoyne yet tho. Anything else that might do? Maybe Autotune, but that is outside my budget and I am not even sure that could what I want any easier or better than Melodyne.

Have you tried Graillon ? Its more than just a pitch correction plugin.

You can try this out. It has a control that does exactly what you are asking for. I've tested it but not well enough to speak on what sort of artifacts it creates. It also has the ability to do many other things I'm sure could be useful. It has an X/Y grid where you can draw custom pitch envelopes based in amplitude as well.

The only other thing I can think of (other than izotope rx) would be krotos dehumaniser. I'm not sure what all the full version can do but I know it has the ability to warp a voice in ways nothing else can.
Hope one of these works out for you.

thanks, and interesting. It uses a phase vocoder method ie a model of the signal - so it might be similar to Pitchmap from Zynaptiq. I will message Flux and see if they can validate a solution - in which case this is a buy from meNotheorem729 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 8:25 am You can try this out. Try https://www.meldaproduction.com/MHarmonizerMB
Put on 100% wet, and change the mode to Harmonizer (high quality), and adjust the formant section to suit whatever key you are in.
Might be good enough for what you need, but you might need to assign pitch detection to the pitch, so you can give it a little bit of variation back

I, too, would suggest to use Trax, by IRCAM / Flux. It's probably the best solution for this, in my opinion.

Try Soundtoys Little AlterBoy on Robot mode with the pitch all the way down.

Trax is certainly the winner so far - cleaner more natural solution than the other options I have tried. thanks for that suggestion

You are welcome! The fact is that "making flat" an animated speech involves two components: making the intonation (pitch) flatter, and making the rhythms more regular (with an even, regular spacing between the syllables). The first problem is solved very well with Trax, but I have no idea on how to solve the second (assuming that you are interested in doing also that second part of the process).

You can use pre-recorded session.fairlyclose wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 6:05 amthanks but this is for prerecorded audio, I have altered the OP to make it clearer
Look online for a speech to text tool.
Put the aduio through it and save the text.
Look online for a text to speech tool. Put in the text and generate voice.
With apps like Vocaloid you can do text to real one note monotone, but with rhythm to match the beat.
