Hi,

Introducing new freebie as Black Friday deal!

It's SPre!

Image

Preamp and dynamic filter (LPF) of famous vintage SP1200 sampler.

But, now it has modern features!

It has SP1200 line in/out section model and famous dynamic filter but possible to use as static filter, too.

Let's talk about controls...

FREQ : 20kHz to 50Hz sweepable frequency knob

Q : Q Factor of cut-off frequency

ATTACK : Attack time of dynamic filter

RELEASE : Release time of dynamic filter

MODE : It's the most important feature of this plugin! "S" means "Static and "D" means "Dynamic". It's sweepable knob to blend static filter with dynamic filter. So, you can get fully static filter, fully dynamic filter or blended filter how you like!

MIX : Another great feature! "DI" mean "Direct Input" and "SP" means "SP1200". Possible to blend fully clean signal with vintage sampled signal. SP section will give you bit reduction, noise and tons of non-linearities.

OUT : Really?! Simple output knob :)

Also, layout like this...

Input Line Amp -> Filter1(For DI) -> Filter2(For SP) -> MIX -> Output Line Amp -> OUT(Clean)

As you can see, there are 2 filters. One for DI, one for SP. Both controlled same knobs.

Also, dynamic filter fully adapted to your source's peaks. More peaks, more spice!

Now, let's see and hear examples.

First, slap bass example.

And drums...

Synth Bass!

Guitar? Why not!

Hope, you like overall idea and samples.

Of course, you can make better movements with this baby when you get it :)

Before releasing, just wanted to show you new plugin and hear your opinions...

Wait for it!

Thanks

Unexpected but very interesting! Looking forward to trying it out!

Looking good where can we get it?
The notes you don't play creates the silent gaps for you to hear the notes you do play :phones:

Great idea. I just checked the demos. In dynamic mode it sounds like a wah-wah effect. I don't think the real SP1200 does this? So, if you turn MIX knob fully to the SP side, it should sound 100% like the SP1200 in terms of bit reduction and frequency spectrum, right?

Hi,

Actually, it's sounding like wah-wah effect because of my audio files. I choose more dynamic materials to show how effective filter.

It follows peaks of material. And my samples really "peaky".

I didn't want to make it for only electronic music. People can use it with bass, guitar, pads, keys... Basically with all sources.

If use more static audio sources, possible to hear slowly raising attack time.

And it's little bit different than original as filter. Original one is fully dynamic. And using old components. It was hard to re-crate chips and convert it to static filter. So, it's possible to hear some different result but it's close to original.

Yes, if turn MIX knob fully to SP, you will get SP character. Bit reduction, frequency response, dynamics...

I thought that instead of only SP mode, people can combine their samples with SP. It's better than only SP mode or on/off.

Thanks.

That's a great idea!

Another question: Does the processing perform the same, independent of sample rate settings in the DAW or will the result change depending on which sample rate the DAW is set to?

Nothing will change. It will react same with every sample rate.

Also...

Added simple "SEQ" button. It will engage "Sequencer"!

So, you will get sequenced filter with your pre-set frequency and time.

When "SEQ" is ON, "MODE" and "ATTACK" knob will be de-active. "ATTACK" will be adapted to source and "RELEASE" will set sequencer speed.

Here is really simple example video...

Not bad!

If you could set the sequenced filter to be a) more subtle and b) less predictable (I know it's supposed to sync with tempo, but maybe you can have triplet notes in between the settings for straight notes or an option to add / subtract a few samples / ms to the timing, so that it will perform the filter sequencing slightly off beat).

Post

And the another "strange" example...

Also, added indicator for SEQ and DYNAMIC modes. SEQ indicator will always flash cause it's always trigger signal even if not engaged.

And DYNAMIC indicator will flash like gain reduction meter. IT will show you where it filtering.

Bottom LED for SEQ and TOP one for DYNAMIC.

Image

Here is sample video for ambient sound. While SEQ working linear, DYNAMIC will work like non-linear sequencer with pad-like sources.
