Hi, I'm looking for an analog type software synth. Do you know which is better between the two or other alternatives?

Post

I have both and as a matter of fact those are not even comparable.

U-He Diva is a synth

Analog Dreams is a soundbank/sample library for Kontakt 6 and its quite limited, its not really a synth even tho Kontakt has ability to play wavetables and has round robin, but Analog Dreams does not utilise that at all. With every preset you have only ability to control macros (unless you have full Kontakt version, but the UI is not very intuitive).

But if you are looking in to Analog Dreams, i guess your goal is to get something analog sounding and inexpensive? get Super 8 from native instruments, it sounds amazing and i think its the last sale day.

Diva is a much better choice as it's much more flexible, being a proper synth.
If you like the sounds that Analog dreams provides, check out Luftrum's Diva Synthwave soundset.

Having said that, at the current sale price Analog dreams is only £22, so obviously vastly cheaper than Diva.
So, at the end of the day, you get what you pay for I guess.

get the Komplete 12 - now on offer - sh.t..loads inc..(edit- on KVR sale... :hihi: )
there is Monark synth too..(or just for 50$)
can't compare Diva to NI AnalogDreams.

good luck

Diva is a synth, Analog Dreams is a rompler with very restricted set of controls.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Diva. If you wanna get down with NI try massive x, or massive, or just grab reaktor (which will give you access to an insane library of synths and processing).
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Ah, ok. What do you think of Zebra 2 Analog Memories vs Diva?

I haven't tried Analog memories, but Theta is awesome.
It totally nails that drifty analog vibe.

Diva preset HS Solamis--oh man. I can play it in the c1 to c2 range forever--lush. I have a free version of Analog Dreams--came with free NI thing (only have maybe 12 presets or so). Those sound good. Oberbrass isn't too unlike the brass sound that Diva opens up with, and the rest are nice--but can't tweak them like Diva. Diva's filters have a great rep, and they sound damn good. I have Zebra 2, Serum, Harmor and some other synths, but I very much am glad to have gotten Diva.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

The U-he products combine great capabilities, great interface,
and great sound design. Much of the competiton will lack one of the three,
and muddle one or both of the other two :dog: :hihi:

Few competitors are 3 for 3, in the hyper-pro U-he league,
and the boss is on a roll :hyper:

If you want classic synth sounds, Uhe Diva is great.

However as one poster mentioned, there is the option for Super 8 by Native instruments which also sounds pretty good.
:borg:

I think Zebra 2 works very well for the softer side of things and there isn't much you can't design with Zebra.

You just missed the sale but if you have older hardware you can still get 25% off with the dinosaur crossgrade.

I would recommend any of the u-he synths over Analog Dreams. If you are low on funds, Ace is an excellent choice:

If you have the money, I'd definitely consider Komplete 12. Not only has Monark, which is one of the best, if not the best Minimoog emu, but, it also comes with Massive X, which has the Monark filter, and much more, and sounds pretty analog to me. You won't go wrong with Diva as well though, it's very nice also.

But, as has been pointed out, it really depends what you want to do.

Don't damn KVR, you asked. :D
