I find this to be delightful, deeply satisfying; bring on the Simon and Garfunkel covers! Now if I could only get a "talent enhancer" plugin for my brain...
Thanks, Arturia!
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

Definitely awash in a new level of free reverb. I have Acon Basic and had forgotten about it!v1o wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 4:05 am People keep mentioning Raum but they forget Acon Verberate Basic. Don’t sleep on Verberate Basic it’s excellent.

Aahh, I see you can still download it as a single plugin without having to mess around with ASC. I only have another Arturia plugins which I have not installed recently so I'm not keen on getting another software manager on mys system.Butwug wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2019 9:35 pmI activated mine without downloading it. Just downloaded vst file from account. When plugin loads, you get a screen to enter email and password, and it activates.
But in that case I will probably try it out even though another reverb is the last thing I need or care about.

The snare reverb on The Boxer was actually created by miking an open elevator shaft.Jafo wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 4:15 am I find this to be delightful, deeply satisfying; bring on the Simon and Garfunkel covers! Now if I could only get a "talent enhancer" plugin for my brain...Thanks, Arturia!

Rev PLATE-140 is a circuit-accurate software emulation of the iconic EMT 140 hardware reverb. Arturia’s plugin simulates the behavior of the original hardware unit down to the circuit level, including the vacuum tube preamp that is responsible for the reverb’s lush saturated sound.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

So is there any mention of physical modelling going with this seeing how a large part of the sound is from the plate.

The most important question has still not been asked. Is it better that UAD EMT Plate? How does it compare to other plate reverbs?
I have never been a big plate verb aficionado so haven't looked much into any of them. I occasionally just use the plate algorithm in my existing reverbs when it sounds good in particular case. I think the only separate plate reverb I have is SoundToys Little Plate which sounds good on anything anyway.

Skeuomorphism has definitely gone too far with this, whose stupid idea was it to only allow setting the decay time with up/down buttons
Sounds good though, but of the free reverbs of the season, I'm preferring Raum for its lush spaces and sound design possibilities. This is definitely more traditional sounding (obviously).

That was my very first thought also. I tried scrolling the window up and down before realising I had to click the button 400 times. At that point I closed it and went to bed.ilmai wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:09 am Skeuomorphism has definitely gone too far with this, whose stupid idea was it to only allow setting the decay time with up/down buttons

I think the GUI is well done as this kind of style goes (except for the decay buttons, natch) but, yeah, a Valhalla style GUI in a quarter of the size would be my preference.ilmai wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:09 am Skeuomorphism has definitely gone too far with this, whose stupid idea was it to only allow setting the decay time with up/down buttons![]()

This and Raum both sound great in different ways; I'll be using Raum more for sure just due to the stuff I do (ambient, unnatural verbs etc) but love the sound of the tube preamp in Plate140.
On a personal note, I was pretty pleased to see when I fired up ASC to find my Minifilter license I'd forgotten about, all ready to download. That's a fun tool too.
