How do I get out of this chord progression?

Eclectus, I get your perspective and in fact you are very correct in pointing out that you've been helpful to OP. But it's equally important that we use the same roman numeral analysis. There's enough problems as is with various nomenclature in roman numeral analysis. And my intention wasn't to scold you, it's just to point out the preferably analysis to modern context - especially because other people read all this too and you probably don't want people to learn wrong practices (while Schenkerian analysis isn't wrong practice, it's not great outside of classical context which this isn't

I have found that the solutions to all your problems on KVR is the foes list feature. 99% of the flamers are all muted. (It makes for a simpler and cleaner existence on KVR). janncivil isn't becuase she actually knows her stuff (and much more than me about music) and I have learnt quite a bit from her posts.Eclectus wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 12:49 pm What do you think this thread is about? It's a person wanting help with their chord progression. Out of all the people in this thread, I'm the only one that listened to their song, gave advice on their chord progression, and was considered to be very helpful by them. Because I helped them solve their problem.
As far as the OP's post goes. i fial to understand why he is "trapped" in a progression. There are other ways to get out of a key or progression when just plowing through with more chords. OP can also consider breaks in the music or moving to a new key and then back to the I - I - VI - V progression.

Why were jancivilâs posts removed? I donât see anything Iâd consider rude in the replies. Maybe the replies were edited. I read jancivilâs posts before they were deleted and there was a lot there I wanted to experiment with, but upon my return they were gone.
Re:eclectus, I did try to genuinely help in the first reply, and hit upon something the OP hadnât tried.

I did read the OP, and noted that the poster is learning theory right now - presumably conventional theory, so I think referring to Schenkerian analysis is going to muddy the waters rather than help someone in the process of learning.Eclectus wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 12:49 pm Bunch of pedantic old farts. Have you even read the OP? What do you think this thread is about? It's a person wanting help with their chord progression.
If someone wants help, itâs generally accepted that a straightforward answer is being sought rather than a dive into something more advanced than the scope of their question.

Me thinks jancivil saw the OP gave an answer to one of the first recipients, but not to her posts. She may have felt offended by being neglected, thus being treated rude by the OP, and thus removed her posts herself.milford wrote: Why were jancivilâs posts removed?
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

You should consider adopting roman numeral analysis yourself and join the circlejerk. Sure would be a shame to cause unnecessary tangents in topics with people wondering "Really, all in major?" or "Does that person not know about minor/major distinction in roman numeral analysis?"Eclectus wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 4:13 pm Anyway, you guys can have fun with the Roman numeral analysis circle jerk, I've done my good deed and I'm out of here. If the OP wants help with their arrangement I'm happy to help via PM! (Cause I'm unsubbing and adding a whole new lot to my foe list!)
But that's up to you.

the f**k you areEclectus wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 12:49 pmOut of all the people in this thread, I'm the only one that listened to their song,
I deleted what I wrote, but do operate on pure assumption as to what it was.
EDIT: or just lie.
One way or another, OP had no interest in hearing from me so I frankly felt very casting pearls unto swine upon returning, but had scrupulously sorted the fundamental mistake of calling not one but two modes (canât be both, by definition) which in the long view is the better advice (teach them to fish vs the hand them the one fish and youâre done you are so proudly featuring) and informed the person of their own tonic at â0:55â (B) and so forth.
Everything offered at this point was naturally totally incorrect, since no one can even tell where one is.
So, I can just let the blind lead the blind, no skin off of me.
EG: You, yourself went into something regarding the tonal vii chord, which is just a pretentious rookie mistake if this is the supposed âE Dorianâ or âG Lydianâ. (The bit I transcribed is in B minor. EG: @ ca. 1:23 itâs an extremely obvious VI VII i in B minor...)
NB., there is no modal anything here. But carry on with the fakery!

Liar.Eclectus wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 4:13 pmIndeed. Now practice what you preach and start talking on topic. The OP was asking for help with a song they are writing. You are the one going off on a tangent about analysis, and haven't helped them one bit.Forgotten wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 3:31 pm If someone wants help, itâs generally accepted that a straightforward answer is being sought rather than a dive into something more advanced than the scope of their question.
They were very long rants about the OP's and my use of uppercaseBertKoor wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2019 3:32 pmMe thinks jancivil saw the OP gave an answer to one of the first recipients, but not to her posts. Everything in this paragraph is bullshit, past the fact I sorted out the modes mistakes.and how the OP was wrong about the modi and other theories. It wasn't about the chord progression the OP got stuck on and it wasn't helpful, it was just off-topic criticisms. She stated herself that she wasn't feeling too well so that might explain why it was as bad as it was. Jancivil removed those posts herself. I think when she stated "rude" that she was referring to her own unhelpful posts.â
Sure, f**k me for providing the real deal here!
Youâre just totally full of shit and demonstrate only egoistic arrogance snd a shitty disposition. Youâd do well to take Intro to Music Theory at community college or the like, if your errors and failures here are any sign. Or since you canât determine the tonic, transcribe a song off a record one day.
No, ârudeâ is for the ignoring, a day goes by and no response, there must be a personal issue.
In the end itâs not my problem a person is doing the oh-so-common take a smattering of information off the internet and assume they have it.

The OP canât do their own work but has to canvass advice off the net.
Their modi operandi coming in have utterly failed them, but you wouldnât want to disabuse anyone of that w. basic facts here. If you were even able to. I suppose it was unwise to interfere with this process at all, then.
