Frankly I also didn't until a week or so ago :) It's weird that we can't reverse the clip without switching the view...

The error lies in your workflow ...

If you use the group track selection with "Bounce" instead of "Bounce in place" you get the rendered audio onto a new audio track with no need to switch the view...

Why would I want the audio on a new track? The whole benefit of using Group is that you still have the MIDI track intact for future editing, but for the portion you want bounced you get the audio *on* the Group track that gets priority playback over anything that's coming out of the MIDI track. And there's no need for additional new tracks.

The fact that I can't reverse Group clip is not an 'error' - it's a weird (but I'm assuming deliberate) design choice on behalf of Bitwig devs.

Hmmm, not my point of view...
The whole benefit of groups is to group and process something together ...

For what you are trying to achieve, is putting rendered clips on seperate tracks imho the more consistent way...
This leaves your midi track intact as well and you can put the rendered track into the group too

I never said this would be an error... using group tracks as audio tracks is imho...

I find it generous enough from the devs that you are at least able to use the group track for more than just cutting, copy/paste etc... like in all other DAWs but to say that not to allow immediate clip editing would be a weird decision is a bit OTT...
It´s at the very end a group track...not an audio track ...and being able to get this wished behaviour by just switching the view mode is imho well done and more than one could expect...

Nevertheless you can use your way as well... changing the view is not the end of the world I think 8)

It's not, for 2 reasons at least:
1) You need to cut out & mute part of the MIDI track that you bounced - many more extra steps than changing the view
2) Despite the above, sustained notes and/or FX tails from MIDI track will still play WITH the bounced audio - you'd have to automate tracks output volume or something

"My" approach solves both nicely - the audio clip on Group track takes priority over any signal that's coming into the Group track, so cutting, muting and tails are not a problem.

And you can obviously STILL put FX on the Group track that will affect both the output from MIDI track and bounced audio that's on the Group track...

Let me get this straight - so you don't bounce-in-place Group tracks, FX tracks or Master to make your life easier when wanting to achieve some effects only because of some preconceived notion that it's an "error"... Wow :o

I wonder where you put the line?

I agree with your points... That would be a FR from me to have an option in the bounce window to mute bounced clips respectively if only rendered a part of the clip to cut and mute the bounced part...

I do that all the time but in my case you have to replace "Bounce in Place" by "Bounce"...

I make my life easier but not just rendering a part of the clip but the whole clip and by taking care how I programm the clips to avoid hassle afterwards...
There is always a way... but perhaps not always your way...

What I don´t get in your argumentation as it would be a point for my way of doing it:

If you are using bounce in place on a group track because you don´t want to have a seperate track for that, how do you "achieve some effects" on the bounced part only??
This would be easy by having the bounced clip on a seperate track but not on the Group/FX/Master track...

Ok, two examples:
- I want my reverb send (FX track) to stutter in 16th notes during bridge section - best way is to bounce-in-place the FX Track and repeat 1/16th several times
- I want to do a tape-stop FX on my whole track - best way is to bounce-in-place Master, stretch the clip & filter it

Those are impossible - or very difficult - to do using bounce to separate track.

+ option to copy over to the new track all the FX after the bounce point :)

Ah, I see ... you mean it this way round... I understood it other way round ...to bounce in place and then put fx on...

I'd like BW to do it the way it goes in Logic: the original MIDI track/part is kept muted, while the bounced part is added in parallel.
