A long piece in four sections, lasts about 15 minutes. Made with VCV Rack only. Comments welcome, as always.
"Men's souls are crooked and unsound things, not good materials out of which to build friendships, families, households, cities, civilizations. But good or no, these things must be built, and we must craft them with the materials at hand, and make as strong and stubborn a redoubt as we can make, lest the horrors of the Night should triumph over us, not in some distant age to come, but now."

some lovely sounds in there 8)
love how the seperate pieces are different enough you notice but not jarring at all, flows perfectly :)

really well done ...
the minimalism appeals to me , and you left each timbre
room to develop and engage the listener ...

Thank you, friends ! I appreciate your comments, and I'm very happy you enjoyed my music.

@vurt - I do as CrystalWizard suggests, I whisper sweet nothings to the machine, making all sorts of promises I can't keep, e.g. "I'll buy you a new SSD" or " I swear I'll upgrade tomorrow"... Seems to work at least some of the time. Give it a try ! (We'll never tell.)

Best regards,

Dave Phillips

Yes I love the way you create claustrophobia by keeping it so sparse, I could listen to that for a lot longer. Love the swells
Can't really think of any criticism but at a push I didn't like the sort of plinky sounds in the last part

I don't much care for them either, they point towards what I wanted but they don't get me there. Sometimes they really bother me, sometimes not so much.

Thanks for checking out & commenting on the piece !

Best,

Recently I decided to brush up on Homeric Greek - for real, no lie - and I notice that the editor of the book is John Wright. It's all starting to make me very suspicious ...

I just downloaded the book.

This is comprised of very nice sounds. I will have to check out vcv.
I think this isn't microtonal...? I could be wrong. You might want to consider MT for this sort of thing.

Wish I could try listening to it on my phone while reading the book on my phone but can't when it's on youtube.
