Hi peeps. Looking for a decent, under $200 condenser mic.
Any suggestions?
Mainly simple home recordings. Usually female vocals, some acoustic productions but generally more electrónica.
Gracias

Rode cost’s almost twice as much, is it that much better, better at all?
You decide

I didn't (and wouldn't) recommend the NT-1A ... the NT-1 is way better (imho). That's why I bought one (for £150 iirc). I recorded the vocals & guitars on these tracks with an NT-1: https://of-songs.bandcamp.com/releases

Where one can buy one new for that money today, hit the stores, it goes way over his budget.

I found one for under £200 ($249) at gear4music, but yeah, they have increased in price since I got mine ...

His budget is less than 150 pounds and he is outside of Europe anyways.

You can pick up a Rode NTK for pretty cheap, and they're great for female Vox. Better than an NT1 from what I've read (I've only ever owned the NTK, but did research before buying). You can replace the internal valves with better ones as well. There's whole threads on gearslutz about it
I make music: progressive-acoustic | electronica/game-soundtrack work | progressive alt-metal

For your budget, it’s probably better not to look for a specific model but check the sales till you find one from a good brand. Rode and Audio Technica are both good but do not always have the best sales. I’ve found that sE Electronics microphones regularly go on sale at a decent discount and are good. Blue microphones are also good but are not usually discounted as heavily as sE.
At a cheaper price, MXL microphones can be good but are hit and miss, particularly on quality. I’d only get one in store, where you can look it over. I’ve used my current MXL for years but had to return the first one.

I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Good advice from the man in (the self-styled) "God's Own County". I'd also add Sontronics to the list. I've got one of their small diaphragm condensers and it's bleedin' marvellous. They do this in the large stylee;khanyz wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 10:18 am For your budget, it’s probably better not to look for a specific model but check the sales till you find one from a good brand.
