While you design presets/samples what kind of analysis tools?

What you use, beside your ears, while doing Sounddesign? A tuner and frequency analyser seems somewhat obvious. But what else? Spectrogram, oscilloscope? Tell me!

my only little gripe with SPAN is that sometimes it's hard to see which note the sub is cause of the width of the slope but other than that it's pretty awesome.
MSED (free from voxengo) can be handy to quickly cancel out the mid or side or to check if the sound you're recreating is mono or not etc
